5-Bits - Page 17

Alright, I'm stuck. I'm not sure why my 470 ppd is so low, and I'm not sure what steps to take to attempt to fix it.

I have set the affinity for both the cpu and the gpu so that they are using different cores. the CPU is on Normal and the GPU is on High priority.

I have overclocked, and ran it at stock.

Re-installed the client completely (deleted all files).

My flags are -gpu 0 -local -advmethods

It only started when I began running my cpus, so that must be the reason; but I'm not sure what else I can do besides changing affinity... (using winFac and I also tried manually)

Any ideas?

If you are running SMP I would just run the standard Unicore. I'm not sure what else it could be to be honest.

set your cpu folding to -smp x (x being one less than your total number of cores)

and instead of -advancemethods on gpu, i think it should be -local -gpu 0 -forcegpu nividia fermi

I have the smp x correct, I will go adjust the other one now.

hahaha, the fight against the clock!

How did it go?
Alright, I have tried adjusting those flags like you said, but it didn't help.

My GPU usage stays at 100%; however, as soon as I close my cpu folding client, the temps on the 470 go up quite quickly. It is as if it isn't be fully used.

Maybe that will help the troubleshooting.

My first -bigadv just dropped, I love seeing my team rank jump by 100 spots because of 1.2 days of folding on this system

I was having the same sorta issue whenever I folded on my 4870. I have no idea what parameters you should use on yours, but I'm just now trying to do smp 3 instead of smp 4 on my sig rig, but we'll see.. I will let you know if it helps, i used to just try to fold on 4 cores cpu it didn't have enough juice for the gpu, i'm thinking if i put cpu on 4 cores but only like 99% that might just do it (idle also) we shall see! giving 3 cores a fair chance to get a good ppd reading, and my bonus will kick in shortly..

Overclock on i7 920 d0 went well, I just got the voltage down a bit so it should just run cooler overall, still at the same clock though. Tightened up RAM.. I think this is a good speed @3.6 1.16v, ~70 Max on load running the good bigadv in about 34Mpf I'm not sure what it would take to get down to 30min TPF, but I just may just set that goal for myself. I'm still getting comfortable with QPI Core and all..

My other goal is to get to 1 Mil Points in a Month.

We should really have some sort of team goal!

I was going to say our goal should be fixing all the bugs we have in our systems, but I think I am the last one in need of tweaking.

I say we need to try to hit 1 million points as a team by the thirtieth, and 2 million by the end of the month.

Sound doable?
Hrmmmmm definitely fix the bugs first!

I'm optimistic! Lets do it!!!!
1 Mil by 13th may be tough, but 2 Mil by EOM I think we can do!

Jeffries do you know what the bigadv units do for TPF on your i7@4.0Ghz?
