Well the PSU has been tested and verified to be working properly, and my ASUS A8N-SLI Premium is waiting at my doorstep for me to get home from work

The Use of a 20-pin PSU is not for the DFI MB's. These require a true native 24-pin PSU with at least 480W and 26A on the +12v rails.. trying to get it to run on less will give you problems... as you have experienced... GL with your new MB.
