The X1800 XT 256mb and the X1800 XT 512mb are the exact same card other then the amount of memory.

For most games today, 512mb over 256mb of video memory won't make too much of a difference, but can be more noticeable at higher resolutions and AA AF levels.

That being said, the 256mb and 512mb versions perform the same other then when the more memory in itself comes into play, and both perform at or over the 7900 GT level, which itself has only 256mb of memory. The 256mb X1800 XT also costs less then $280 so not really at the same price point as the other 2 cards mentioned.
