This thread will contain the chronicling of my first experiment with water cooling my rig.

I will be using a Corsair 800d and modifying it so it works with my plans.

This is my first major case mod and I hope I will be able to pull it off. I am going with a black/silver/white color scheme.

The components will be as follows:

i7 2600k

8gb (4x2gb) Corsair Vengeance ram

3x 64gb Microcenter SSDs in Raid 0

640gb WD Caviar Black

Asrock P67 Extreme 6

2 x Evga GTX 470s

1 x Evga GTX 460 for physx and folding

Asus Xonar STX sound card

Antec 1000 Trupower Sleeved

Water gear is:

MCP355 with petras top

1/2 x 3/4 white tubing

Various 1/2 x 3/4 bitspower compression fittings

XSPC RX360 Rad

XSPC RX480 Rad

Frozen Q Fusion Res

7x Enermax T.B Silence 120mm fans for push on rads

2 x EK Nickle/Plexi full cover blocks for GTX470

Ok so it looks like I finally got the time to do a few updates. I have been extremely busy with school and work and other things so this project has been on the back burner.

I decided that this will be a 2600k rig with an Asrock Extreme 6 board.

I also decided to go with a quad rad up top and to put a triple rad down low.

I am using a MNPC quad rad grill.

Testing to see how the rad grill will look up top.



Rad makes the 800d case look small.

Not much clearance for the triple rad down low.




After doing some testing I have decided to only put the fans in a push configuration and I will be using a universal laptop power supply to over volt the fans to between 15 and 18v. More updates soon.

To give a massive update. I finished the project a few months ago. I replaced the original motherboard with the Asrock Z68 Extreme 7 because it supported tri-sli. The Antec 1000w power supply I had in the mockups did not have enough wattage for 3 Ocd GTX470s so I had to buy a new power supply (Strider 1200w) and sleeve that one. It runs like a beast, I can max every game out there at a solid 60fps, max detail @ 1080P. Its also a lot quieter and cooler thanks to the water cooling. So for my first water cooling build I think it turned out pretty well. Here are some pictures of the finished product.
