Well, considering you can fit it into the same budget (while maybe sacrificing another aspect/part), it is definitely worth it. The 955 is a C3 revision which enables better overclocking & memory support, not to mention it is a black edition with an unlocked multiplier which makes it very easy to overclock.

aside from overclocking, which would you think i should get?? Cause ill be honest... idk how to overclock nor do i want to lol. I just dont think i need that much power and the games i dont play need it so. Saying that, do you still think i should get the 955? or get the other one thats 2.8ghz or w/e and like 20$ cheaper

EDIT: also what mobo would be good? (im looking up deals for a case+mobo combo so maybe some info on a chipset would be cool? ty)

At the moment the best CPU would be a quadcore, with an 890 chipset, 1600 mhz ram, a good GPU using a good PSU. To be honest with that budget its hard, at 750 i could be much more helpful. Btw, sataIII is a gimmick, harddrives dont even use 6.0 gb bandwidth

CPU: AMD Phenom II 955 $145
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-808-_-Product
Mobo: ASrock 870 extreme3 $95
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-198-_-Product
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 1333 mhz 7-7-7-21 or G.skill eco 1600 mhz 7-8-7-24
Ripjaws $65
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-276-_-Product
Eco $80
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-321-_-Product
GPU: ATI/AMD Radeon HD 5750 around $135
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-448-_-Product
PSU: Seasonic, always a good choice $62.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817151074
Case: Your choice. Ill give you $70 headroom
Windows7: Get a retail version on ebay, only around $100 and not OEM.
HDD 500gb sataII 50
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-073-_-Product

CPU 145
MOBO 95
RAM 65 or 80 remember tight timings are important on AMD systems.
GPU 135
PSU 63
CASE 70
HDD 50
Total: 638 or 623. 583-600 if you decide on a $30-40 case.

Have fun, i hope this helped you, took a while to put together!!

If this post helped you, rep is always welcome!

Actually by performance 1333 7-7-7-21 is about equal to 1600 9-9-9.
Perhaps a better comparison:
Ripjaws 1600 7-8-7 $75
ECO 1600 7-8-7 $82 shipped

The 5750 is very low tier and for $135 is a ripoff; you could get a GTS 450 (or if perhaps lucky, a low-end GTX 460) for that price.

I wouldn't pair that motherboard with a 125W 955, it may have a heatsinked power phase but it is still a 4+1 and thus may not be able to supply adequate power when overclocked - that or blow up and catch fire (which has happened on heatsinked 4+1 power phases before, believe me)

well someone who was helping me before said that a 880g chipset for a mobo should be good enough. However, most of them only have it up to 1333 for ram (and 1600 for OC which i dont want to do). So should i just get a ripjaw ram for 1333?

Again, i dont need an amazing comp which can run like 20 games of crysis on high =P. Just a pretty good comp.

Also, whats OEM mean for windows 7?
means you dont get tech support. its the for ppl who build pcs for a living or dont care to need support. It saves you like $100 or so. And really vampy ram wise if your just looking for 4gb of ram with no intent of overclocking, just get the cheapest set of ram that is at least 1333mhz.

sooo should i get OEM or not? lol =/
I would, but I have compiled a list of stuff I think would be good for you because since your NOT going to Overclock, as I see nothing wrong with the PSU and the motherboard you picked my self.

GTX460 $149 ($129 if you can get the rebate back)http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121390

Gskill DDR3 1333mhz 2x2gb(4gb total) $46 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231253

Phenom II X4 925 Deneb 2.8GHz $130(should be plently for you and in the future for a couple yrs)http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103656

Win7 Home Prem 64bit OEM $99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116754

total price is $556($536 w/ rebate from vidcard) without case and that includes shipping.
And the guy that said get a PSU with a single rail ignore because that only would be a problem if your overclocking like the rest of us with higher power demand components.

And apparently if you can get the preferred cust account with newegg you can get $10 off more right now too if you are not one already.

Edit: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.562860 this combo deal tho would save you $50 to the price I gave above if are able to redeem the rebates

Thanks for the offers prime. I think i am leaning more towards the PSU/card combo that you gave me (although i will have to swallow my tounge and ignore the reviews ><).

I will get the CPU u posted as well...however for ram my friend said to just get ram with 1600 because it will be a bigger performance boost (so that is why im leaning towards the ripjaws with the 1600 i posted in the beginning). If you dont think i should could you reply back with why/??

Thanks for the help so far guys =P

EDIT: right now i am looking over some case/mobo combo's =P so far found some that seem decide. I just HATE how 95% of cases now have USB slots on the top of the case....not the bottom....kinda pisses me off since i dont put my case on the floor but w/e -.-)
