AMD gaming build help =/ - Page 6

well tomshardware.com did a review on the difference of gaming and real worlds apps and the performance gain from 1333mhz vs 1600mhz is like 3%. I cant find the article tho sadly I would only get the 1600 if you plan to eventually overclock later down the road as it will give you more headroom to max out for cpu's potential. Other then that there is bandwidth differences but since DDR3 hit 1333mhz there really isnt a reason to go higher unless your apps that are more dependent on bandwidth. But in it all it couldnt hurt in the long run

RIPOFF RAM ALERT
It doesn't matter whether overclocking or not, you shouldn't be getting generic memory for a custom-built when there are obviously choices for:
Same price
Lower price after rebate
Also lower price after rebate; better timings, fair overclockability according to reviews (I believe you've already considered it )
well hell i didnt see those. But that also depends if he can afford the extra cost @ first before turning in the rebates.

Build almost done... just need to find a nice case =) (practically dying from the already $60 sales tax... T_T)

Which of these do you think I should get and why??

EDIT: do you think i should get the amd 555 and unlock the 2 other cores? or get the AMD 925?? My friend said this about quad cores "unless ur gonna do video encoding or heavy photo editing, you wont need more than a dual core. the x2 555 will save you $40 and u can most likely get a quad core out of it."

not sure why you would get a 450 when you can get a 460 on sale for almost the same price.

The 925 is a C2 revision, it may not overclock as well as a C3 stepping 555 or even unlocked 555. Go with an NZXT case (Recommend M59; GAMMA, BETA EVO are also great for the price)

Sorry I dont understand what you said lol. If i get the 925 i will NEVER overclock so im not worried if it cant overclock as well... I'm am just curious as to which to get between the 925 and 555. My friend said i dont need quad core unless im doing heavy applications and photo's etc. But if I wanted quad i could always unlock them with the 555 and save money.

Just wanted your thought on that
oh, that should be fine if you're not. Well if you are just gaming it depends on the game, some will make good use of a quad (i.e. GTA IV, BFBC2). Your choice from here I guess.

alright then i might get the 555 and save the money and just unlock the cores. Do u think the mobo im getting will be able to? if not y?
