Crunch Build Log Bandwidth-Killer edition - Page 20

Couldn't even sleep in today--I was so excited to go to the PO and get the stuff for the the Claw that Chozart sent me...definitely too "sick" to go to work AGAIN. Headed to Lowes for more aluminum and rivets and mobo tandoffs--or something I can use asa mobo stand-off--need to get the mobos as far away from each other as possible--starting to wonder if I am putting too many heatsinks too close together...won't know until I start benching them. But I am coming to the realisation that I may have to call it a half success with only two rigs installed--the Zalmans are almost touching each other--pics to follow--had to DL the cam and charge the battery last night so today I hope to capture some more modness.

Yep but that's another thread Dammit--prepare for a barrage of images--I may finally kill Imageshack's bandwidth! I got it done--the fabrication is complete--the mobos are mounted--the PSUs are attached--the KVM cables are in place--the D Link wireless cards were modified and just barely fit. So Crunch is Complete!

That's right I pulled it off--the physical part anyway. But with no room for HDDs internally I am either going to have to get the USB deal going or hook up some external drives to see how it works! Almost afraid to power it up.

See for yourself...

Where I left off--racks that hold HDDs that are too large 4 all 4 rigs to fit.

The gleam of new copper in the morning light...

Where I left off on the cage... some serious work ahead...

It's so beatiful--too bad I can't use it...or the HDDs.

Detail of how the HDD attaches...

The new mobo support--a simple piece of flat stock with nuts and bolts..LOL

Front view--I used nylon nuts and washers.

Here we go again--first one in for a trial fit.

2 Zeus 560 Watt PSUs arrive!

Quick trial fit--it's good!

Second rig in place--and it fits! that means they all will--time to fab out and Git R Dun.

Money Shot! All the rigs are built and installed on their supports--they simply lever into place and are secured by 4 screws each--easiest PC I've ever assembled...LOL

Last one going in...

That is too frigging cool! All 4 boards installed without a prob!

That is absolutly GORGEOUS. I can't wait to see how they perform with all those heatsinks so close LOL

This is such a neat project, and specifically designed for such a great cause.

Cyber druid, after seeing what it looked like with only one motherboard in the case, I was highly doubtful on you managing to fit computers into a single box, but you've done it, and I'M GOD DAMN IMPRESSED!!!!!!!!
