Well it seems like I can make this work out...just need to get out the tools and get r done.

Plan for the day: fabricate and install the HDD mounts over the fans and route the top to fit over them...

Will post my results in a few hours...

Raining still...no shop work today...so I hooked all the Crunch mobos up to the KVM and got them cranked up to 160 FSB...all except one--kinda wierd how identical hardware configured identically still has it's own comfort zone. One mobo likes to run at FSB 158--the rest at 160...

So that was fun...next!

Oh yeah, it's still raining...hmmm

The Chair-rig still running fine?

I envision a complete set of folding furniture. Wel now have a chair and a footstool already. Mmm... a dining table with motherboards hanging underneath.. if installed properly, it'll warm certain parts of the table, keeping your food warm A drawer set with build-in folding rigs...

I know some day you'll find a way to get all those embedded chips in all sorts of electronics to fold

Had to adjust the OC on the Centurion which is housing Crunch4 ATM--it was rebooting randomly and losing steam...Crunch1 and Crunch2 in the wood case are performing flawlessly--the 805 is doing the job!

Cruch3 is riding bareback ATM on my "Folding Chair" and is also performing flawlessly, but is considerably hotter--not having a Zalman but a lesser heatpipe HS fitted. So far so good--hoping to up my average production somewhat.

All is well on the farm.

Way to go Also, the lack of directed airflow over the folding chair might have an impact. Only when there is a breeze will it get some airflow over that motherboard. The ones inside the case have a forced, and directed airflow, which is good

Well I tried leashing the dog to it and having him wag his tail and pant furiously...
But he kept laying down on the job...

I counted them! Stuff you gotta do when your the Married Guy.... Had to turn down the 820 Crunch rig another couple of notches--it is stable at 233 FSB--does not like it up there at 240 at all...random reboots...other than that all is well.

Well despite the rigs all being more or less the same they do have their individual quirks. Crunch1 cannot hang with the other rigs and must have a milder OC to keep up and Folding...this being the coldest rig it must be a mobo thang. I find that I can run the other 805s at 159 FSB despite temps up to 60C without instablity. The one weak mobo can only handle 157--and still locks up once a day or so...

The 820 has proven to be not all that great at OCing on the P5LD2-VM--I can only run it at FSB 230 (15%) without it locking up. I have a feeling that a proper Vcard would help--as this seems to be an onboard video issue...just a hunch.

Right now Crunch is back inside as the temps outdoors are too high (97-100 F) and I am able to run without any case fans whatsoever by keeping Crunch over the floor vent...lately the AC runs almost continuous so temps are great for the two rigs in Crunch.
Hope to get all four boards into the box soon--just waiting for a small influx of casholine to make that possible...looks like the limited ability to OC might be a blessing as the power seems to be about maxed out with two rigs at 20%--plus extreme cooling won't be required--I am even going to try a smaller Heatpipe type HS on Crunch3 and I will give the non-OC ECS mobo a shot in the Crunch project with a stock Intel HS. the exra room will help fitting them all together, and having one nonOC rig (at least for a while) will be a good baseline for performance (as measured by Folding production).

I have burnt Ubuntu onto a CD and have been able to get it up and running that way--but no luck whatsoever getting it to Boot from a USB HDD..which is a pity as it is a small and kinda nice OS.

Following a guide in Tom's Hardware I am still working on boiling XP down to USB stick size...it does indeed seem possible..but the learning curve is a bit steep...if only SW was as easy as HW for me....nothing tangible yet

That's about it for news on the Crunch project--hope to have something a little more exciting next time.
