Crunch is still Crunching away...although the D805 chips are pitiful in comparison to the C2D when is comes to Folding. I found a good MicroATX board I will be trying out soon for C2D--an Abit FP 190 HD...

Updates to follow

He would if he could

At the time he build it there were no high-power single rail PSUs (the Silverstone Zeus 560W was the best pick in that regard)

Right now, there of course are more choices, like the single rail Silverstone OP1000 and the upcoming DA1200. Those would do the job

I can't believe you built this monster! You should put a picture of it in your x-mas card to NASA. They would scratch their heads and feel kind of stupid when Bob says "Why didn't we think of that?".

NICE JOB!

Lol it's only going to get better. I love this case and think it is a superior design to any I have seen...ease of access, cooling, looks...it is a winner IMO so I am refitting Crunch with C2D on micoATX.

The first cadidate is likely the Abit FP190HD... which would make Crunch suitable for use as a HTPC too..

I have an E6600 in the board ATM...but when prices drop I think Quad is the best bet. Without a doubt the Zeus 560 will power a single quad..and if I only use one mobo for now I would have plenty of room for fitting some Liquid cooling in the case...

Started working on Crunch this afternoon in my new shack I built to hold me over till I get the WorkShop completed.

Two things I needed to improve on Crunch so I could get back in the Fold.

One is I really needed to make a proper HDD mounting system--the one I had sort of slapped in there was not working to keep the drives cool and was also limited to two drives...

Two is the need to convert Crunch to Liquid Cooling becasue the E6600 I have weill certainly require it.

The components that I will be installing into Crunch are the Abit FP190HD that I bought many moons ago--this is rumored to be a great OverClocker but I never really tried it out. THe E6600 from ICE that I had up over 4ghz on Phase, The Areca 1210 RAID 5 card that runs the 4 Raptors I had in Ghost. And the Liquid Cooling set up from my Lian Li Tech Station.

The 560 Watt Zeus will be more than enough to push the E6600--the Abit board has onboard graphics so no power draw there.

Since I am selling WaterClocker in it's entirety I need to get a rig together.

I had played around wijht the idea of buying a nice case and going that route--but Crunch is already a nice case--and perfect for the job.

Eventually I hope to use Crunch to drive a home threatre setup as well as Fold so keeping my Dataz protected (RAID5) and my rig quiet (PA160 with one fan) is the goal.

I have just completed my pop rivet wizardry on the HDD cage and have the 4 Raptors nicely mounted on Scyth AnitVibration mounts and the whol assembly drilled and tapped so it is easy to remove.

Now it's time to drain the loop on the tech station and transfer the parts to Crunch.

I ordered a couple more PA160 rads so I will be able to restore the tech station in a week or so.

Pictures later tonight
