you really should have looked into upgrading your other components, your still using old technology, agp is pretty much fading out. It would have been a much more wise investment to upgrade to a new mobo that supports pci-x. Then you will be future proof for some time to come.

That would've been the right choice for several of us that are willing to ditch the AGP because got caught up in the PCI-Ex16 must upgrade to wagon.

But there are several hundred of people that want the most out of their systems than just replace the entire system, hence as to why lot of people are asking me: Why do you want a 960 when Conroe is just around the Corner? Well, I tell them that my MoBo is the best and I want a 960 for it to be match with and hopefully it will last me for the next 3-4 years.

7800 GS, with the rest of it? It should last for another 2 more years. Good luck with it.

I agree with Nasgul, just because something's not the newest out there does not mean it's bad. You could build a pretty killer system out of last-gen parts.

Yeah im not ready to jump ship on my S478/AGP setup.

Why should I? I get great overclocking and good gaming performance plus the advantage is if i blow anything up i can get a replacement out of the "odd sods bin" nice and cheep

i paid £50 for a Northwood (Galatin "binned") 2.4c and get a 1200MHz overclock out of it.

There is still some life left in these "old" technologies

A 7800GS will be a worthy upgrade hope you enjoy it You get nearly as excited as me lol like a kid in a sweety shop.... i love it

Hey, dont stomp on us AGP users!
I got an XFX card, I see Gainward do a GT (20Pipe) version with 512 of Ram for AGP...
as for upgrading to PCI-x, well yes maybe we a bit out of date, I think alot of people may be waiting to see whats along next...
DX10, Vista ect. on the way, will the 7900GTX-RRR or x1900-XXXXRRR I just paid £400 cut it? will I have to spend another £400 to SLI/Xfire it?
or will I have to get a whole new machine(£1000+) thats compatible with all the cobblers that MS is Larding out the new OS with! XP is Lardy enough!!

Good buy. And by the way, slydog, the one component of yours that is better than yours is the monitor so I wouldn't be saying that.
