950ES, wow, I want that

You can change the multi's..

I'd say your good up to 65c mabye 60c is a better tempature to say below, don't want to harm that poor ES.

These are in Bios under CPU Config

1)Enhanced C1
2)Execute Disable Function
3)Intel Speedstep
4)Virtulisation
5)Microcode Updation

I have all these enabled but dont know if i should. If I turn some off will I get better performance and does anyone know how high I can take the core voltage? Also, why does AI Booster read a different voltage to the one I set in the bios? Which voltage should I be looking at?

Thanks

You can go up to about 1.45V max on the Preslers. Just as long as your temps are good. I don't go above 1.4375, but I can get a 4.2Ghz overclock on that.

Here are some more screenshots of the Presler 950 with C1. XP was adjusted for best appearance and all that. Turned off some of the temp lowering power saving things in the bios. Think my graphics card might be letting me down being a 6600. Any suggestions on getting a better score?

Lucky C1 I have the older B1 and as others have noticed, it runs quite a bit hotter than your C1 (EIST was disabled on the B1's )

Now crank it up to a 3:5 ratio and see what happens.

Here's my PCMark05 score.

I'm finding that once I get faster then stock speed on my memory it becomes unstable. Dont know alot about what to do to it to make it stable but its @ stock DDR2 667 4 4 4 12. Your fsb is pretty amazing Nasgul on your screenshot.

From looking at your specs, your graphics card is seriously holding your back on the PCMark score.

Im sure if you Drop the multi and crank up the FSB your score will go up You should be good up to 333FSB with a 1-1 ratio keeping the ram at stock but you might be able to go higher. I can get my ram 1-1 with an FSB of 357 but the ram is seriously slacking at that point due to timings and what not. But with my 6600gt and the CPU @ 4200, I get in the 6300 range on PCM05. PCM-05

yeah, 333 is my goal Adeoliver, I've taken the FSB up to 298 then it starts having trouble getting through all of PCmark 05 but i'm not sure how far I can take the volts, it says 1.25 to 1.40 in some places. I cant afford to break anything, the computer is the workstation for a recording studio as well.

Actually, my previous system being a P4 520 @ 3.5ghz, 1000FSB could render a 20 track project to a single stereo track in 5min03sec. The P 950 @ stock did it in 3min37sec, The P 950 @ 4.4ghz, 1177FSB did it in 2min46sec. So i'm pretty happy with my performance increase so far but I still would like to see how much performance increase I can get.

I'm still on air cooling, not that it seems to be getting hot overclocking, something else is holding me back. Hottest yet at 100% both cores @ 4.6 ghz has been 54 C, ambient 22 C.
It has been mentioned my power supply being a 470watt with 15A &16A 12volt rails may not be up to the task. Surely would like to get to 333 though.
