A8R32-MVP help/opinions

I'm looking for some input.
I have the ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe etc etc. I seem to be hitting a wall though and am not sure if it could be a pontential mobo flaw. With my Opteron 165, my divider set at 166 for my ram, lowered to 133 when I tried for higher clock speeds. Once I hit 274 on the FSB it'll start up, when I hit 275 it fails. Is there something that Im missing, or a qaurk on the board that Im unaware of - example the HTT for a 4x (800) multi with my 250 fsb that Im running now, I can't even get to the post, I drop to a 3x (600) and it's fine. Does this thing just not like the 1000 area or something, could it be the 311 bios. I can't do much more overclocking at the moment anyways because my PSU is getting just beat up by my system although still stable.

So opinions, comments, any and all are welcome. Im just trying to narrow some figures down to get some better OC'ing out of my cpu and my board as I know the board should be able to take it.

p.s. cuurently at work so, actually tech stuff will have to wait until to night, but more then welcome to try anything.

I read 2 weeks ago an article on Anandtech.com about a new BIOS revision that supposely solves some OCing isuues this board had in the past. The new bios named 0404 is under analisys and the results are great as opposed to the older ones.

Check out the review here:

The bios download page (click on it) here:

oooo, Thanks a ton - research ftw!

Keep it comming, the more I know the happier I am.

I've started reading already, and have noticed about 1/2 of what they said with my board.

do you have your vcore set to +200m? cause if so then your probally at your limit with the board. the board is a POS in my personal first hand opinion. very limiting for overclocking.

Nope Vcore is untouched. I've downloaded the new 0404 Bios, which fixed my HT problem of not being able to use a 4x instead of a 3x for a 250fsb setting. But I still seem to be hitting a wall around 275 which bites, so I may be looking at the new DFI x3200 chipset board, once I can get some reveiws and such about it.
