i think i screwed up big time

Thread Starter
hi im new to oc.
i overclocked cpu(3000+ venice) frequency to 220(only thing i changed. didnt change voltage or ram). my pc ran good for like 3 hrs and suddenly turned off by itself.
when i turn the pc back on, fans start spinning but im getting nothing on my monitor. i tried resetting the CMOS but does not solve the situation. did i damage the cpu? any way to solve this problem? do i have to buy CPU or Mobo or both? thanks in advance

Did you hear any beep codes? If you don't then you probably have the same thing I had.

Ok, to make sure that the CMOS is cleared, unplug the computer, wait for any lights on the motherboard to turn off, then remove the battery. Wait 5 minutes, then put it back in. This should reset the BIOS settings to factory defaults and eliminate any overclocking settings you might have set.

i tried taking the battery out way. what do you mean by changing the jumper?
how do i do that?
i tried to "short" the jumper by touching the jumper with metal(it said that is another way on the manual)
i cant get into bios. all i see on the monitor is black screen. im 100% sure that the monitor properly connected.

Does the computer even boot up ? do you hear it booting up ? Or does it just give you beeps ?

If it boots .. have you tried to replace the GPU card ?
or if there's an onboard video card in your mobo then try to connect your monitor to that.

btw fill in your system specs please
It's under "user CP" at the top of the page you're viewing now

Was the computer unpluged when you took the battery out? If not, the 5 volt ATX soft power current would keep the CMOS settings intact.
