I am kind of annoyed to hear vista sounds so lackluster, I was planning on building my next rig around it and DX10... now I am just not that psyched about it anymore (or the fact that it may be delayed yet again)

Interesting read although John Dvorak is in my opinion little more than an agent provocateur without resources to prove his so called insider information. In 1988 I read one of his columms and found him at that time to be misinformed, inflamatory and arrogant. Off and on I check to see if anything in his method has changed. Nothing has. John Dvorak has been held to much ridicule over the years for his many views that have not come to fruition.

I would not take much that this man says to heart personally and less of PC Magazine which pay (for what I am not certain) him far too much for far too little.

Let me preface by saying that Microsoft MSFT23.17, -0.84, -3.5%) is not about to stop making gobs of money. It's just that there is virtually nothing interesting or exciting happening (with the lone exception of the X-Box360) with anything the company is doing.

Sounds like he (and maybe some of us, too) would like to see some truly innovative products from the 800lb. Gorilla (MS).

At any rate, I guess I agree. It feels like nothing "oooohs" and "aaaahs" me anymore... new product roll outs seem to fix design flaws in previous versions, and new added features don't create a whole lot of value for me. I care more about performance than eye candy.

Some parts of tech./MS could use some new lifeblood, but I still don't think this is really going to affect MS' market reach or share, nor their "brand recognition". The author seems to agree.

Dvorak is a nutjob. I agree that MS is dead in the water, but for none of those 10 reasons.
