Look for a harbor freight store near you (cheap tools_ or go to a pawn shop. Contrary to popular beleif, the best prices aren;t always on the internet....

how about one of the grill lighters? easier to control the flame and you won't burn yourself? but im assuming you've already bought the heat gun by the time im posting this.

Heh. Funny you asked. Well, I just ordered the heat gun yesterday as a matter of fact... along with some other essential case modding tools: wire strippers, and a rivet gun.

I got them from www.nationalwholesaletools.com (thanks HardwaterH4ck3r) which is a great site for low price tools. I'll post back with the quality and maybe some pics. I think the heat gun was like $10.00 or so. Great price. Let's hope the quality holds up.

As for a grill lighter... the problem I was having with using a flame was inconsistent shrinkage on the heat shrink. Yeah-- I got burned too, but I was more concerned about the way the shrink looked. I wish I took some pics of it, but I already threw out the bad pieces. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, I don't like to see the wrinkles and stuff I was getting from the flame. Also, the hairdryer I was using wasn't hot enough. I've heard you get better resulting using a gun, so I guess we'll see when I get it. Should be here next week.
