Computer randomly shutting off

Thread Starter
Hate my computer right now. My computer is randomly shutting off. I was getting a kernel power critical error in event logger and random BSOD on boot. But after a format and OS re-install (win7 pro 64) I'm getting event id 6008, eventlog error. Also amdkmdag is spamming event id 6145 errors. What gives? Thanks in advanced!

Any other problems in the house? (lights flickering, etc)
What is PC plugged into? (surge, UPS, etc)
I would venture to say that's it's the power supply, but Thermaltake supplies like that are generally solid. It wouldn't hurt to check if you have a spare PSU lying around though.

My system done that but only in games afrer a certain amount of time and i worked out that it was unlocked CPU causing the problem but once i locked it back down to a dual core it solved my problem.

It doesn't say in your specs that the CPU is unlocked or overclocked but if it is set it back to stock in the bios and see if that helps.

No extra PSU at the moment. Any way I can check it with software or a voltmeter?

The CPU was overclocked to 3.2GHz at stock 1.3V, worked fine for a year. Thought that was the issue so now it's at the stock 2.8GHz, still powers off. I have noticed, since I built this system, that it sometimes makes a loud static noise thru the speakers when I reboot it or shut it down. As if the PSU were not powering off completely or something.

I would do a memtest to rule out any RAM issues. I'm assuming its not doing a graceful shut down. Its On one moment and then, BLAM! off!

Could be one of two things, power supply someone has mentioned earlier. But check that RAM too..
