Power Rangers - Page 156

Hi guys. I'm hoping to be your new 2500k folder when the TC kicks back off in June. I've got a really nice chip and it's 5.0ghz+ rock solid stable and I just received my first custom loop. I've been folding fermi for the Royal Navy for a while, but I'd really like to switch categories. I hope to make friends with all of you and help us win of course. biggrin.gif I've already put in my request with zodac and BWG and let my current team know I'm going to be leaving. Looking forward to competing with all of you and I see you guys won D2 month before last. That's awesome. thumb.gif

Edit: Looks like I'll be the White Ranger. wheee.gif

Welcome! Glad to have you joining our team. I'll PM zodac, and BWG as well, and we'll see about getting you switched over, not sure if you'll need a new passkey or not.

I'm looking forward to solidifying the rest of the team, and giving it a real go in June.

That being said, we still have an empty i7 slot to fill. PR-Imagery, if you want the opportunity to get out of cat 2, and fold full time on your i7 2600k let me know, and I think we can arrange that. If anybody else has a SB, or even IB i7, and would like to possibly switch categories, let me know as well.

If we can't fill the spot internally, I'm still trying to recruit new folders from Chimp Challenge. I've noticed a couple of you guys active in those threads, so if you come across somebody folding on an i7, and they sound like they are getting into folding, maybe they might like to try TC.

We also still have an empty vice captain spot, if anybody wants to fill that PM me.

After CC the team captains will resume discussions on the potential changes zodac PM'd us about. If you don't have the message still, and want a recap, let me know. Did anybody have any input on any of the topics, or the proposed changes?

I'm all for the cat2 20k ppd limit with any hardware that'll get you there. Seems to be most logical to me. I'd like to see -bigadv done away with personally, so that it takes a bit of luck out of the equation. I doubt that'll happen before the wu's completely dry up though.

Yeah, I think z wants everyone to fold SMP too, but it'd get too much resistance until they are all gone. I do think once everyone switches over to SMP things will get more interesting for all the teams.

It is wink.gif But we love your efforts!

I've turned off the -bigadv flag on my 2700k, and have started doing a little SMP testing for this thread: http://www.overclock.net/t/1260266/ppd-numbers-needed

If anybody else has some historical data they can post in there, G3RG would appreciate.

It sounds like PR-Imagery may want to switch over to the i7 slot, which is great! That leaves cat2 open, and I've invited krisco65 back to fold on one of his GPU's if the category gets expanded to take his GPU, he's all ready said he'd be interested. So pending any rule changes that go into affect for June, I think we are getting there. We're going to need everyone's help if we hope to be competitive in Division One, we barely pulled off the victory and got bumped up last month.

Ok, done. You get that 2500k under water yet? I switched my 2700k over yesterday, but I have to remove the GPU from the loop, and redo everything this weekend. I switched the motherboard without taking apart the loop, which was rather tricky by myself, and trying to seat the CPU block, while holding a 120mm rad, and GPU in one hand, and attempting to screw in the block. I'm surprised I only sprang one leak, which wasn't in a bad spot, so I just fixed it, and didn't bother leak testing.

How's everyone else's hardware doing?

That sounds like fun.

Weird, extremely weird.
Opened my case today to find several fans not plugged in... plugging them in instantly dropped cpu temps 10 degrees and brought my gpu back under 80c, which has been running at around 100c past few weeks, I just figured it was the weather.
Also encountered what appears to be a dead/dying/faulty PCI-E slot, had a smoky smell emanating from the lower slots, bios stopped recognizing raid card in that second x16 slot but gpu works fine.

Oh, man, sorry to hear that about your motherboard.

I thought I killed a PCI-E slot in mine last fall, but I just killed the card, the board has been fine, lol, it was my old MSI GE 465 (470) TF2 card, I miss that GPU. The worst part was that a penny is what killed it. A penny stuck to my leg, then when I was repositioning myself on my chair, it flug toward my PC, which had the side panel open, and well, pow! burning smell, and everything shut off. I guess I was lucky it was only one of the GPU's that died in that little mishap.
