I use the Windows 7 client version 7.1.52, and was wondering what if anything do I have to do to have it utilize my 2nd video card? I'm just not seeing it in the OCN Folding help file.

I'm not too savvy with v7, but I believe you need to add another slot for it, outside of that I'm afraid I won't be much help. 2 x 580s?? and watercooled? Oh man, I'm jelly, I miss the one I had and sold.

I fixed tycoon's points.

Well, I've done that for my competition rig already.

What I'm wondering is for my non-competition rig, under v7 of the client, I have an SMP slot and a GPU slot (which is typical from my initial install). Under the advanced settings for "GPU Index" it is set to -1, which is "-1 to allow the client to choose a supported GPU".

My question is, with two video cards (again, NOT for competition), do I have to add a second GPU slot? If I do that, do I need to change the -1 in "GPU Index" for each GPU slot to something other than -1? If so, what? Or is there something in the "GPU Core Indices" section that I have to mess with for 2 video cards?

Shoot, to tell you the truth I'm not sure how you do it because I did not use V7 when I folded 2 GPU's. It looks like you do need to create another slot per the old V7 guide in the guides section though.

I'll have to try that tonight. I'm still doing a "shake down" on my system since I messed with the water cooling loop. I like to give it a good 24-36 hours to make sure there are no leaks before I beat the bejesus out of the system.

I don't know if I have to add a "gpu2" slot, or the -1 will handle it by itself.

I saw this on another post, which hints at if you leave it at -1, then like going with smp for CPU's, the client will figure out how many CPU cores you have automatically:
Quote:
3) Click the "Add" button, and you are brought to a screen where you can add further clients. For the GPU, simply select the "GPU Index" box.

If you have multiple GPUs, you can either manually set the GPU to ID 1, 2, etc. However, for ease, you can leave it at -1, and the client will figure it out itself. Click "OK" to add the client.
For now, ignore the other sections.

Any recommendations for flags for my competition i5-2500k to get more PPD using the v7 windows client?

I know some will say use the linux virtual client, but I can't do that on the i5-2500k rig I compete with as I have to stay in Windows 7 and sometimes need all the memory I can get for work, so that is out, but I didn't know if going with a flag like -advanced or -bigadv would help out the PPD for the competition on the i5-2500k.

If I recall right, -1 is just like saying "use default slot". So if you add another GPU, you might need to change the first one to 0 and then add the second one as slot 1.

Using -1 in v7 is saying "I don't know what it should be, so find it for me". If you add a second GPU, you will create a third slot. Your SMP slot for your CPU, leave it at -1. Slot GPU0 set to 0, and Slot GPU1 set to 1...and that should take care of it. So that should be 3 slots total.

Use advanced, im almost positive big doesnt work with only 4 cores. What is your overclock? With my 2500k i can get 24-25 k ppd in vmware linux with good wus at 4.8 ghz, but the wus have sucked lately so its been more like 20-22. If you competition folding, make sure you dont fold with your gpu at the same time as that can drop your ppd by a few thousand.
