Power Rangers - Page 289

OMG!!! I was stuck on I-68 for an hour+ going east on the last down slope before sideling hill..... I think damn MD plowers stopped all traffic just to plow it. No signs of an accident. Plowed road for a few miles, up and down sideling, then i-68 wasnt touched until 70. Normal 7:45 hour:min drive took 13 hours today.

MD didn't get much compared to Ohio.

Tell me about it. I saw multiple people in the ditch on my driver over to Microcenter yesterday. I even saw some moron who blew past me in the fast lane in an F150 (and I was doing 45 in a 55 ... which was most likely too fast anyway when I think about it), and he cuts across three lanes of highway to make an exit ... or should I say TRY TO ... well, he didn't make it and he rolled his truck 2 or 3 times. What a jackass. Moron didn't even have his headlights on, which is state law when you have your windshield wipers on. If I didn't see how much of an idiot he was, I might have stopped to see if he was alive, but instead, I kept going, dialed 911 and called it in. My "good citizenship" only goes so far, and preventing Darwin from doing his job is too far.

Wow, yeah, that one takes the cake.  I saw a four car fender bender taking my wife to work yesterday, it was on a bridge.  I guess somebody didn't understand physics too well, "Wait, what, you mean because there is no ground below the bridge, heat can escape from both above and below it, and the steel and concrete used to build the bridge are better conductors of heat, therefore they transfer any heat to the surface much quicker than asphalt??"

Haha sounds like 4WD bravery/idiocy right there. I didn't see any accidents happen but there were people still in their cars in the ditch though. One guy a bit ahead of me fishtailed a few times but nothing compared to that F150.

I talked to my mother who lives out in far western Maryland. They got 8" of snow. Best part is ... we get to do it all over again this Saturday. thumb.gif

Gah, I so do not want to be at work today.

I got used to having 5 days off in a row without so much as 1 customer or employee calling. Got a new 27" IPS monitor at home. Rift, the MMO I play, is having a 20% bonus on XP and loot for the holidays. I have off again Saturday thru Tuesday. Just got to make it through today and tomorrow ... but bleh!

O.o  new monitor sounds fun, I'd like to upgrade to 1440p next spring possibly, I have a 27" 1080p panel that is OK, but it has its flaws.

Woohoo 3-day weekend here too, maybe four, I'll have to check the holiday calender.

Oh, and my birthday is on the 31st, so everyone make sure to go party in my honor.

Pre-Happy Birthday!

And if you are looking for a 2560x1440 27" ... I can now personally recommend that $399 Korean Auria one from Microcenter ....

This monitor is INCREDIBLE.

I went down to Microcenter this morning, braving the sleet and snow, and got there at 9am when they opened, then fought traffic accidents for 90 minutes to get back home (normally only a 35 minute drive), but once I got this monitor set up, it was ALL worth it.

The panel is so large, even compared to my old 24" monitor, and the blacks are VERY black. No dead pixels. Just an incredible image at 2560x1440 resolution. Best $399 I ever spent.

I don't see why some people knock the bezel, I think it looks good. It feels pretty solid (aside from the base), and when mounted to my computer room wall, it is rock solid with no flex.

Now for the negatives: Like everyone said, the stand is junk. It works, but if you can possibly use a VESA mount, do so. The build in "speakers" are likewise garbage. They technically work, but are so tinny as to be totally worthless. There are no USB ports like on other monitors. I really don't care, I have more than enough USB ports on my PC right next to it. The menu is a pain to deal with, not very intuitive, but it's not like I'm in it all that much.

If you are in the market for a large format monitor and don't need "bells and whistles", look no further. This thing is an incredible monitor for the price.
