i7s still out perform FX 8350s for folding performance, by up to around 10k PPD both with native Linux, and both at 5.0ghz.  Windows folding performance also sees the i7 ahead of the FX 8350, by a slightly larger margin.

If Crysis 3 is any indication of games going forward, either CPU is fine, but the FX may have a slight advantage.  With the new consoles coming out soon, and the PS4 is already confirmed to use an 8 core architecture, it would seem we will finally see the need for MOAR CORES.

I still think Intel makes the better CPU, uses less power, and folds faster.

@Pimp Is it a 3gb version? And not Zotac...

Yeahh noooo.
I'm thinking $250-$280 a piece for a pair of well used and abused 3gb 580s.

What Anubis said. I gave serious consideration to trying the FX series for the 4 computers I just built up, but because I wanted to use them for Folding and not have to tweak them constantly and wonder if I could get to 5.0GHz, I went with the slightly more expensive Intel's (which were only like $20 more because of Microcenter) but will get a lower electric bill (ok, the office will) and more PPD.

MarkV is also considering selling his 690 too.

Dunno what the rash of possible sales/trades on the 690 is all about lately.

People want Titans, even tho they're nothing really special.

I sold all my NV stuff to go AMD.

I've actually been hitting the VRAM limit while gaming on my GTX 690 lately. I haven't given the Titan much (if any) thought, and the price point of putting 7970s under water sounds appealing to me.
