I assume all id do is just wait for my current780 to finish up its current WU, then shut the slot off while enabling my TC passkey on my better 780.

Seems like that's the best way of doing it without any significant loss in productivity

I would quit V7 on both, shut down and switch the cards.

Hm, sounds like a plan.  :thumb:

I wouldn't worry terribly about a bit of downtime at this point.  We are pretty solidly locked into 2nd for the month.  If anyone has maintenance to do, suppose now would be good as time as any.  Maybe I'll order the pump res top, fluid, and tubing I need to put my 680L under water.

Well, this is certainly a curve ball ... 7 days from now.

Ok, so does anyone have any of the new hardware?

Well, we could have you go over to the NV slot on your 780 it looks like.  Then I could pick up a new GPU.  I swear BWG just likes to make me spend $$$.

It had to do with Nazis I believe.

Interesting thought. I mean under GPU-E, you can now Fold with 2 GTX 680's ... I wonder if you are allowed to Fold with 2 GTX 580's?

But honestly, the 500 series cards are really long in the tooth for Folding anymore. The 700 series pretty much blows them away.

Well i would have to get a LIGHTING 660 cuz i would OC that thing to death.

Oh, hate i missed it, i am against the Nazi thing, but i have a wide array of humor. lol

Well 2 580 Ghz cards would push close to 780-Titan lvl PPD for $500 less... Assuming PPD scales better then SLI. lol

I have a 570 and a 560Ti 2win that push about 40-55K PPD each, i could add one of those to my TC Key and Fold away. That would beat the 660's for sure smile.gif

Or after X-Mas, get another 580, that might be better. thumb.gif

Yeah, 7970's in crossfire is pretty much going to own that category.

I mean look at gboeds with his 7970. He pulls usually between 127k and 158k a day with that thing. You are looking at 254k to 300k a day with a pair of them. A good Titan or GTX 780Ti will do right around 200k to 220k.

Even Anubis's GTX 680 usually only posts between 102k and 114k a day. Double that is 204 to 228k .... Not even the best will beat the low end of a pair of 7970's.

To be honest, I think 7950's would be comperable, not the 7970s. A 7950 pulls about 104k to 122k. That is more in line with a GTX 680.

Oh well. I don't see making any major changes unless you guys got the hardware.

So who has a pair of 7970's? biggrin.gif
