this fear has now officially been validated First the bad this time-

That makes 2 pieces that need to be sanded down and primered, painted, exc. The $15 sticker was also ruined

Now on to the better stuff-

I started repairing the pieces that were damaged yesterday. I ended up using q-tips and spraying paint onto a piece of cardboard, dipping the q-tip into the paint and dabbing on paint into the smaller area's that the tape peeled off the paint. I will try to blend these spots in with sandpaper/steel wool after they dry and cure then clearcoat.

you can see the wet repair coat here for the top panel. I still need to apply the rest of the sticker but I think I will peel them from the backers and apply them individually to eliminate the chance that they will pull up the paint.

I'm gonna have to try to smooth this out as best as I can after it cures-

I have some touch up paint on the one of 'c-shaped' side panels too, but it's not as bad

Lets say we move on to better news

No paint peeled off this piece and here is a picture with some fresh clear-coat. I had to reduce the MGK-RC1 sticker down to RC1 because I totally forgot to put it where I planned to but no biggie-

This one turned out nice

put some black and clear on the dash and speaker panel too-

Here's the other side piece that turned out with no blemished that I finished yesterday with clear coat.
edit- had to censor the pic

Nice picture of the back panel-

the good side is done

Nice work! If only my brother bothered to do something like this for his wheel instead of just buying a prebuilt that doesn't even have all the necessary parts (We're using two old decks of cards to give the shifter a place to clamp)

Thank you Kgixxer7 and HSG502
I really apprieciate you guys following along

Well today was another good with the bad day.

Lets go with the bad first-

Seahawks lost to the Bears...
I scrapped one of the RC1 stickers...

I woke up early this morning (for a Sunday) and went down to the shop and did some sanding on the messed up pieces-
Here's a picture of the windowed part of the back panel sanded down to the wood-

I sanded the side down with the sticker incident and also decided to scrap the bottom portion with the RC1 sticker that got messed up too. Looks like I will be paying another $20 for stickers soon...

First coat of primer applied- I ended up using 2 whole cans of primer to cover the 3 areas (4-5 coats). Alot less coverage than the Kiltz house primer I used the first time. I let the primer dry for about 1/2 hour and lightly sanded with some 400 and 600 grit sandpaper. Then I used a tack cloth to get all the primer dust off of the sidesbefore spraying down some orange

while I was letting the primer/paint cure, I cut out the individual letters from the sticker I had and applied the "Racing" to the part that I redid yesterday. The 'c' went down a bit crooked but not enough to bother me, just enough to make it 'hand made'

First and second coat of orange applied to the new primer-

Third coat-

fourth coat-

Now I just have to wait for a week while the paint cures (yeah right HA! Saturday at the latest )
before I lay down the tape for and paint the stripes, apply the big round sticker, and clearcoat.
I should be done with the painting this coming weekend-

Have I told you guys that I dont like painting? It's my own fault I guess, but I have never had good luck with painting. The last project I did I watched the paint bubble and wrinkle as I topcoated it with some clear enamel...

Thanks for looking
