Next I have to start working on the new dash, but first I have to position the shifter in a good location where it feels right. I ended up mounting 3 additional pieces of 3/4" plywood to the reciever shelf so the shifter is mounted 2 and 1/4" below the plane of the wheel. I moved it as far to the right as I could and I have just 3/4" between the shifter and the side of the cabinet. This is the final position, but the work is not done. I will have to build the dash and have this integrate nicely into it.
But here are a couple pictures so you can see how its coming so far-
My screen bezel covers all but about 1/16 to 1/8" of the screen boarder, except for the bottom portion. I had to leave the bottom exposed, as that is where the monitor controls are. When I am sitting in the machine, the top of the wheel is just below the bottom of the screen, so the only thing getting in the way of the action will be my knuckles
There is not a whole lot of room between the reciever and the back of the wheel housing, but I only need to get the speaker wires connected, as the input signal will be a digital optical cable which is located on the left side of this photo, where there is plenty of room.
Well, that's it for this weekend. The hard part is still to come with making the dash. Thanks for looking and as always comments and suggestions are welcome and apprieciated Edited by bob808 - 12/26/10 at 9:55pm
