Wow great work bob808, everything looks amazing. The immersion in game will be awesome. Even this would be great to play all kinds of games in since it looks comfy.

Also I would make it so the shifter can be pulled out so it will sit next to you like in a real car so it would feel more comfortable. Thats a big reason I could barely use the G27 on a desk. Just a nice idea to think about, would be really cool.

Cant wait to see this done, wish you lived close. I would try to come over all the time to play in this! Haha. Great work!

Bob, if you have an HD video camera, I'd love to see it in action with a short ~5 minute run of you racing once it's all polished up.

That would be cool (movable shifter) but where I have it located now feels good to me, but I am used to driving a manual transmission truck and not something more sporty. That being said, I have the shifter located about 3" lower and 4.5" forward in comparison to the wheel mount, so not like its just mounted on a desk. I know what you mean though. I thought about making a console type box coming up off the floor of the base near the front right on the seat, but nixed that idea for what you see now.

Thanks for the suggestion smile.gif

Great work man

Man, I wish I could make a living out building these type of gaming machines and high dollar pc builds, and I have even got a licence to do just that! But as I have good ideas and decent ability on my side, I seriously lack in any ability to get the word out to the small customer base that would be interested in products like these. If I was wealthy, I would get a store front in Seattle or Belview and have pc's and arcade style gaming machines and some other cool stuff for sale.

Hey guys- I got some more work done on the dash yesterday and today. I got the bottom of the shifterbox put on and filled in the gap that I outlined in the previous pic.

dscn0375i.jpg

I also drilled 3 holes on the left side, one for the cig lighter, and 2 for buttons, and cut out a section for the ashtray. The 2 buttons will be reset and power buttons for the pc that will inevitably reside inside typer.gif

dscn0374m.jpg

I had to hog out some wood on the backside to make room for the switches and such. Then, I poured some hot glue over all the seams on the backside for added strength.

dscn0376.jpg

I sprayed one coat of primer and it brought out some spots that I missed when sanding/bondo, so I put on some more bondo and I sanded a bit more. I need to get some more primer tomorrow.

She's getting closer wheee.gif

I think that I might take all the parts that need paint down to my work, as the weather sucks lately and its too cold and wet to paint outside.

Stay tuned!

Thanks awdrifter!

I primered the dash again tonight along with the monitor bezel and the shelf that the ps3 will sit on. I've got one of the work trucks with a canopy and plan on loading up the wood panels (side, top, front, back, shelfs) and taking them down to the shop (where I work) in the morning to do some painting before I go watch the Seahawks vs. Saints game at Hooters.

I'll try to remember to take some pictures for you guys tongue.gif

EDIT- I had to do quite a bit to get the pieces ready for paint tomorrow. I got the tail-lights cut in and sanded all the pieces. I found some bolt holes that are not being used anymore and had to fill/sand/primer them along with some deep scratches and skuffs.I also had to remove a few hardware items and the t-moulding off of the side that had it. I have 8 pieces ready to load up and another 5 with primer drying in the basement.

The painting is probably going to take a number of days. I'm just going black on the inside of the cockpit, and the base color for the outside is going to be Hemi orange. I am going to put a couple fat black racing stripes (outlined in white) going along the front/top/back. In the beginning days of this project, I was thinking of putting the Dukes of Hazards '01' on the side, but now I want to put one of my MadKat Games logos on the side. I have yet to decide on the final paint designfor the sides.

Also, I was at first thinking about just using a ps3 in this, but now I am leaning toward making this a full-fledged gaming rig. There is plenty of room on the shelf to put an xbox 360 next to the ps3, and there are lots of good racing games on the pc that will work with the G27. I just bought Need for Speed - Hot Pursiut last week on steam. I also have Grid, Dirt 1 & 2, Burnout Paradise, and Toca Race Driver 3 for the pc. There is plenty of room to mount a mobo, HDD, and psu in the cabinet.

The G27 isn't compatible with the Xbox 360 as far as I know, but you will still be able to use the wireless controller (can use the 360 pad for non-racing pc games also and even to control the cursor as a makeshift mouse)

Looks like I am going to have to pick up F1 2010. It is one of only a select few driving games that take advantage of the G27 clutch and shifter.

Anyway- I'm done for tonight but am getting excited about this project and can't wait to be driving!

Still a ways to go- Stay tuned cheers.gif

Yeah! That game was great! Hasselbeck and the Seahawks defence both performed brilliantly. I had a great time. Watched the frist half at Hooters and then watched the rest of the game over at my friends house had lots of food and beer biggrin.gif

I'm getting ready to go back down to the shop in Kent and spray the other side of the pieces that get painted orange. I got the black sprayed yesterday before the game.

I also want to get the base wired and the seat/sub re-attached. I'll get some pictures up later today.
