Radeon 6970 hit stores and some people already bought it

Thread Starter
Well I guess all the hooplah and leaks has taken the thunder out of this release, seeing that according to the leaks, 6970 will perform between a gtx470 and gtx480. I just don't see how the 6970 is going to be relevant when the gtx470 could be had for a mere $160 on black friday. Sorry AMD, you lose again.

What's funny is that people have bought this card in stores already and are probably going to post benches before the review sites can.

+1. People are QQing (red/green fanboys) before any official reviews are even out. The GTX 500 and HD 6000 series are somewhat disappointing as a whole on the high-end front but next gen should be better. Anyways all i wanna see is the price and how the perform

That sounds like total bull****. The 5870 performs between a 470 and a 480, and my 6870 is only 3% slower than a GTX 470. So how anybody can sit there and believe that a 6970 is only that fast is beyond me. If that was the case, the 6950 wouldn't even exist.

People are so dumb.

I agree, sometimes there are facepalm comments. Wait for a real review people.

I agree that the 6850 shouldn't exist. Who wants another old 5000 series upgrade card? It's still based on the 5800/5900 series architecture.

i hate to add speculation on top of even more speculation but a simple google search yielded me two leaked benchmarks (one from a chinese site another from who knows where) of the 6970 and both concluded the performance in 3dmark and heaven were above that of a 480.

Did you mean it will perform between the 570 and 580, or are you a troll?

Are you sure didn't mean between a 570 and 580 cause the 5870 is already between the 480 and 470 and I'm pretty sure AMD would have to be stupid to make their next-gen highend card perform the same as their lastgen. Between 570 and 580 but closer to 580 is what most people believe....
