8400GS Overclocking

Thread Starter
I have this card sitting in a P4 506 system with 2 gigs of RAM: EN8400GS SILENT/HTP/512M/V2/A.

Think it's worth overclocking this fella at all? Right now I play movies with it, though I might wanna do some light gaming with Freelancer and some older games of that type.

The fan idea would be nice but I doubt it's feasible. What utility is best for checking for artifacts?

i run my passive cooled at 740 1600 520
(not sure about the first number 740 as i'm not using that computer right now.)

anyway you should try to max out the RAM as that card is very bandwidth limited.

OCCT with error checking would be very good for checking artifact

most likely no.

the thing with such cards is while they are better than onboard, getting a card with a more efficient and faster core will do much more to improve the gameplay than trying to OC.

i say this since i was gaming on an HD 4200 until the day before yesterday and now using my Hawk i can play with settings that weren't even possible. an old 9600GT etc will work and they should be had for cheap used
