Im not 100% sure, but I dont think so. Cos you can SLi Vanilla and SC card too. Then SC will downclock to vanilla´s numbers.
And still seeing many SLi setups with different brands.

guys, one question. I'm expecting some more input on the GTX 590 but as it seems, they will be priced high... way high ...So i think i'll go with GTX 580.

I have a couple of questions that i need some help with:

a) In terms of overclock and for watercooling, is it worth getting an Asus Direct CU II?

( Is it possible that this little beast, with it's upgraded VRM's will overclock more than a reference card under water? I'm asking this because, EVGA's Hydro Copper II version of GTX580 does 1000Mhz core... with reference design ... since the Direct CU II will have more head room ... i was thinking if it would be worth it )

b) Waterblocks for non-reference GTX 580 ... do you know any?

Thanks
Pedro

Only thing to consider is since it is not a reference design there are no water blocks readily available. You may have to rig something up to get it to work. If you plan on watercooling I would suggest getting a reference design with a full cover block.

No they don't. You can actually flash two very different BIOS and they will work, just performance will be closer to 2x the slower card than 2x the faster card.
