Could be if it isn't a full cover block. If it is, then it'd be very hard to have something overheating. The whole board will maintain roughly the same load temperatures.

You know what? Are you still within 90 days of purchase? Call EVGA and ask them if you can send that back for RMA and swap it out for a stepped up 580 since they would be getting it back regardless.

Bad cooling on the vrms...honestly, the stock thermal pad coverage on the 580s vrms (mine anyway) was mediocre imo.

Would throwing thicker pads on there help? Or are they just located in such a way that there's nothing that can be done about it?

Cause I'm eventually going to step up and don't want to worry about my VRM's torching my baby.

On a side note. What the hell is the deal with the GTX 590 and AMD 6990? Are they waiting for each other to release the card first then follow suit? If that's the case then I don't plan on seeing these things anytime soon.

I wonder what they're waiting for? The eleventh hour? 11:59PM 2/28/2011?

All I know is they better come out in the next 52 days because that's all I have left in my step up program. I would like to have a chance when it finally does come out to do so. I'm going to see which two cards the GTX 590 is a pair of and then decide from there.

Depending on how "limited" these cards will be they may not be eligible for Step-Up. I've only got 34 days. So they better get on this.

Well if you get on the list before your times expires it dosen't matter if EVGA dosen't have enough cards or not. They will honor it no matter how long it takes for them to get one to you. I've read that on EVGA forums directly and know it to be true.
