Have you tried setting up a custom fan profile in MSi Afterburner? Create one that sets one % of fan speed per 1 degree C. Doing so allows for the fans to ramp up in correlation to your temperature. Keep in mind that stock 580 BIOSes only allow for 85% fans I believe, so you may want max fans to come in @ around 80C. I believe it was EVGA that released a BIOS update that allowed for 30%min/ 100% max fan speeds with 1.2v maximum. Don't take my word though, I don't remember correctly. But that might help your case a bit.
I'm thinking that your case does not have the most spectacular airflow if cards are getting as hot as you are telling us. Perhaps it is time to get some new more powerful fans or reassess the ambient temperature in your room.
My basement is 65*F right now and this to be honest is the hottest it's been in about 2 months.
There is no heat in this room and the only heat in here comes off my Fermi and the boiler/ furnace, not to mention they're in another room in the basement floor of my house.
This is my first rig so I'm curious to see how warm it gets down here in the summer and what I'm going to have to do to combat it. Maybe a portable AC blowing onto my intake fans? Edited by blackbalt89 - 2/27/11 at 8:29pm
