Well..50~53FPS in Metro ,62 in JC 2 is not exactly up to my standards (comfortable game play/aye candy) now you add BF3~64 player maps plus all new games that will start utilizing Dx11 and you get the idea

Don't get me wrong. I'm not telling you what standards you should or should not have. Hell, the 570 isn't that far behind the 580, even in Surround to be honest. Even though the two I had held up very well for the most part, I still decided to Step Up to 580's just to squeeze out that little bit of extra performance. Similarly, if you need 60 fps minimum in every game you play, then a pair of 570's will get you closer to being able to do that with any game currently out there.

The point that I was trying to make is that you may be disappointed if you play more than just the above listed games, because there will hardly be any performance differences between a single card and two of them on a single 1080p display. Spending around $700 is still a lot of money for graphics cards that only a few games will really utilize.

While I do not doubt that BF3 may be a heavy hitter, it's hard to speculate exactly what kind of performance you're going to get when it's not even out yet. I think Dice has done a good job in allowing hardware to scale very well with their games in general, so I cannot imagine it will be out of reach for the vast majority of people who only run single card configurations. Besides, the netcode comes down to how beefy of a CPU you have rather than your graphics card.

No matter what though, it's your money. Do what makes you happy.

I don't know exactly what you trying to imply by "hardly be any performance differences between a single card and two of them on a single 1080p display"..it looks to me that you get almost double FPS in most of DX11 games with additional card in SLI

In Metro 2033, yes, there is a dramatic difference. This, and Crysis are two of the heavy hitters that will see a large benefit with more than one card even on 1080/1200 resolution. But, I've played Metro once and have not gone back to play it a second time. Again, if you enjoy playing it that much over and over again, then yes it will be a worthwhile upgrade to have two cards in SLI.

In BF:BC2, I don't notice much of a difference between ~60 fps or over 100 fps. Then again, I am locked due to my monitors only being 60Hz. Perhaps if are running a 120Hz monitor you will see more of a difference than I do.

I'm not implying anything about this sort of a setup, I'm just sharing my direct experiences with the dual cards on a single 1200 resolution monitor. It's just my opinion that the money spent for multiple cards on a single monitor is not worth it, unless that monitor had a resolution of 2560x1600. It was only after I upgraded to a Surround setup that I truly started to utilize the potential that the cards had in store. But like I said, everyone's standards and values are different, so maybe it is worth it to you and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I used to have 5970+5870+5870 a while ago and tried to overclock the hell out of my pc now I just play games. I will be getting a 30inch monitor soon and want to be able to keep my fps up so a 3rd 570 should do me just fine. Thanks to everyone for the advice I am just happy to not have the issues with drivers like I did with the ATI cards.

Got email confirmation from EVGA that my 580 should be at my job on Monday. I have class Monday. Guess I'll have to wait until Tuesday.

So that means it will take two weeks for the whole process, both ways. I hope I never have to send that 580 in for RMA. It's been such a drag without my sig rig.
