If you play a lot of PhysX supported games then I would say a dedicated card would be best for getting the full potential of your sli setup, if not using something like 980x or etc for cpu.
GT220 or equilevant would suffice for a dedicated one.

Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk with this enabled just to annoy you.

Here's my updated entry request. Still working on my OC's but this is what I've got so far:

2x MSI GTX 580 Lightning (940/1050/1860)

I think I'm running out of VRAM with Crysis 2 on Ultra with high res pack and DX11 on. Afterburner is showing max usage of 1510MB and my graph shows steady 1507MB. This is also the same time I only get 25FPS. I never thought Crysis 2 could rape my system like this.

Also either my 850/1700/2100 @ 1.075v OC crashed during the freaking first cut scene as soon as the submarine prop came into midscreen or the game crashed. Windows popped up a window saying Crysis 2 crashed but Afterburner shows a complete shutdown of the card. Weird that I didn't get a Windows message about the display driver.

I don't understand this. Can Crysis 2 be that poorly optimized? I don't think it looks that much better and for using the MOST VRAM out of any game I own to boot? No bueno. I don't want to buy another 580 to play this game again.

Any tips? Running 266.58 still. Will the new drivers help?

That's such a modest OC I would have to think it's the CPU OC that is now proven unstable. I had to lower mine to 3.7 after I got the 580 for some reason not to crash on 3dmark11 and F@H.

Had another go at 4ghz today, had exactly what happened to you happen to me. Crashed out about at the sub scene or a little later, no driver crash message. To be fair I've never played Crysis or used their bench, though.

I dunno, I think with the new patches Crysis 2 is now the best looking game I have. I too am seeing 1.5GB of VRAM usage on my system but I haven't dropped below 50fps so far...

I don't know man. This chip can't be degrading that fast. Since I OC'd it it's seen on most maybe 300 hours of use. This computer doesn't get used all that much. And max temp was 61C on the hottest core.

The thing leading me to believe that it was a driver related thing was there are only a few instances where the GPU clock speed drops to 0. And that's a driver failure.

This rig has made many passes at benchmarks and stress tests and not one of them has failed. :/ Maybe it's just the sub scene. Same OC worked fine the second pass at the sub, all I did was run GPU at stock.

Yes and you're running SLi. So your 50/2 ='s my 25. I don't think it's worth it to drop another $500 just to get decent min FPS. It almost feels like there's a conservative VRAM limiter or something. It caps at around 1,510 and just hovers there while FPS hovers damn near rock solid at 25 most of the time. It's almost unbearable.

UPDATE: I ran my GPU OC again which is 850/1700/2100 @ 1.075v and lo and behold it failed again. So I cranked the volts to 1.088...failed again.

But I can run stock with no problem. I can't believe that this freaking 580 can't even do 850 core on Crysis 2, but it can run Vantage and the Metro benchmark all day without issue.

Like I said I don't think it could be the CPU OC. This computer gets such little usage under load that I bet I never even broke the damn thing in yet.

UPDATE 2: Now the 580 likes to crash at 1.075v in 3DMark 11 as well during GPU test 2 which it has never done before, Vantage ran fine though raking in 27,000 GPU score, as usual. Leave it up to me to find the only 580 in existence that won't do 850 core with anything under 1.1v in a DX11 application. Effing ridiculous.

For what it's worth, this DX11 upgrade has actually caused my system to hard lock on a black screen with my overclock, which required a full system reboot. When playing the game before the upgrade, I ran my current clocks just fine without a hitch in every game I played. I had to back down to stock clocks in order to get it to play right, and even then I'm getting flickering problems that are associated with multiple GPU's.

Apparently, this will require waiting for the next set of beta drivers from Nvidia before this is playable in Surround. All I can say is that for me, and those who have similar setups to mine, this upgrade was not ready for prime time just yet.
