I agree, I haven't heard a burn-up story about a GTX570 is quite a while now. So either people are being very careful or they've used better quality components to correct the issue.

Hi guys, my Radeon 6950 was a very bad overclocker. And I mean very bad. I was going to simply sell it and get a new one, but then I thought "hey, I got some money... let's try something new!"
I didn't have any problem with AMD drivers or anything, but being completely insensitive to brand loyalty, I went green "just because".

Really happy right now, I can finally OC like I want to now. This 570 is a beast, it's now on 580 performances level, and that is what I was aiming for.

However, being new to Nvidia (my last Nvidia card was a long time ago... I didn't OC back there), could someone please give me some advices with Nvidia OCing? By PM if it's a bit off-topic. I checked several threads but a good ol' "beginner's guide" is always appreciated.

Oh and... OMG that cooler is good. 74C max with Furmark, and it's pretty hot here. I'll try again tomorrow when the sun is still high. I can't find a picture, but it's basically a Gainward GLH cooler (Hooray for red&black).

Last question: I voluntarily chose a non-ref 570 to avoid the VRM problems. Is the one I chose good? It's cooled efficiently at least.

See you on benchmarks thread .

Yep, except it is not a GLH and it has more vents on the sides (I checked some pictures). A new rev I guess.

Very nice cooler really, from what I can see the fins of the cooler cover pretty much everything... I'm used to XFX coolers (utter failures) on AMD cards for non-ref designs, so this is a huge positive change!

My last worry is the VRMs. I don't know how to check if is better than the reference design... Any idea on that? I don't mind counting pins on the PCB.

Hey guys I think I found the source of my problems. Crysis 2.

Before screwing with the game I added some volts in BIOS to around 1.29 up from 1.28v.

Just ran the game on stock GPU clocks and still had it crash so I figured hell it might be the CPU so I ran IBT on Max burn for 20 runs and it passed that, which AFAIK should have raped my system had it been unstable.

Now my system has already passed this kind of torture before but that was also when this room was 10C cooler so maybe it was time to add some volts but it didn't crash. I don't like running Prime for hours on end because frankly I don't like leaving my rig running if I can't monitor it's health.

Is it possible that Crysis 2 is the culprit? Or was 20 passes of IBT on Max not enough? Keep in mind game still crashed on stock, so unless this card is crapping the bed it's not the GPU.

I'm off to run 3DMark 11 again which crashed last night as well.

UPDATE: 3DMark 11 did not crash. So I'm assuming a few of you were right in that it was the CPU OC for one thing. But I still can't figure out why Crysis 2 won't run. Could it be because my internet at home is slow and I ended up DL'ing the DX11 and HiRes packs at work and installed them onto my PC using a flash drive?

I dunno. I don't have any issues with crysis 2 but I'm running my 580's at stock clocks in games (only OC them for benches because they run any game just fine at stock speed).

Well then I don't understand what the hell is going on here.

There's no way that Crysis 2 is more demanding than 20 passes of IBT on max memory. It just isn't possible.

I don't get Nvidia driver errors, I don't get blue screens, hell the only error message I get is Windows telling me Crysis 2 crashed.

When it black screens CTRL + ALT + Delete brings display back so it's not a hard lock or GPU OC/ driver issue.

This is mildly frustrating. Leave it up to my PC to decide it not wants to run Crysis 2 when it finally releases as a complete game.

I did find this on my travels around the internets. So it's not just me. Lol. Someone said the only way to get around it was to open the console and load the map manually.

Have you tried completely removing the game and reinstalling from fresh? Mine was a brand new install on a brand new build. As soon as I ran the game for the first time it patched itself to 1.9 then I downloaded the Hi-Res and DX11 patches and they installed. I haven't had a single issue....

Just so there's no confusion
