Sorry to hear about your driver issues. I had the same experience when I owned an HD5970, which required me to juggle driver revisions just to play the games I wanted to play. I wrote about this in December of last year (http://www.overclock.net/graphics-ca...-thrilled.html), but it's sad to see that things haven't really changed for those who genuinely do have issues.
After reading what little info is out there about the 2.5gb, I'm on the fence. Apparently it uses the same 4-phase vrm design, so it didn't get the classified versions 6-phase . Well, I'm not really deterred all together, the 570s come really close to the 6970s and the extra 1.25gb of vram will help it compete with with my 6950/70s 2gb of ram. Waiting for EK's response.

I just finished a reformat to see if this helps gets my cards working again properly. If not, I can't wait to get back to the green team, hopefully

Yeah it makes no sense to me why EVGA would beef up a 570 to make it Classified card, only to cripple it in the end with the same VRAM size as the original 570.

Regarding the VRM's, I have read of speculation that it may have been a bad batch of VRM's that were causing the unexpected deaths of the 570's. Again, just speculation, but whatever the case may be, it seems like there are much less reports of cards dying now. In the few instances I have read over the past few weeks/months, EVGA has been quick to replace them with good, working parts.

Good luck with the reformat. For me, it didn't fix anything, but I have my fingers crossed for you.

Good to know about a possible bad batch of vrm on the 570s. I haven't received a reply from either EK or the EVGA forums (maybe its too early ), so I went ahead and emailed EVGA customer service.

I installed the amd drivers (11.5) and she didn't want to boot. Had to restarted it multiple times to get it to load to win7. This is really frustrating, I'm hoping there is good news from EVGA and EK to possibly make the transition to nvidia

I'm sorry to hear that your having so many problems getting your cards to work for you Werman. I know just hoe frustrating that can be. I had to RMA components left and right and it took forever to get a fully functional (knock on wood) rig. I am however glad to hear that you may start to bleed green again soon. That's great news. Especially if you plan on folding at all on the new card/cards. You'd see a considerable increase in overall folding performance with it. I hope that you get everything worked out and that you get all of your problems fixed. I wouldn't wish these type of computer problems on my worst enemy.... Well maybe... Ok no, I'm not that cruel.

Unsure of what would be causing the difference, other than perhaps the fact that I ran the benchmark in Nvidia Surround mode and not Single Monitor Performance mode. Could also be that I have a ton of stuff going on the background, haven't reformatted since... well... since windows 7 first came out.

Ram is running at 843 MHZ, 8-8-8-24-2T. Will try running 3DMark11 in single monitor performance mode real quick.

Edit: Ran it again in single monitor performance mode, achieved similar results, 11600 or so over two runs. I can only guess it has everything to do with the fact that this install of windows started off as an LGA 775 Q6600 and has migrated to a 1366 I7-950... and on top of that, the install is from, quite literally, the day windows 7 came out. Something like this in the past would have driven me insane, but I just don't have the time, nor will to do a complete re-install of windows 7 for 600 points.
That could very well be the problem as 3DMark11 only renders one screen anyway right?

I did the same thing with this build originally and used my old hdd and it ran like dog poo.

If you get a few days off you should reformat.

Get a cheap external and back everything up so you can copy it all back.
