Hey all, not a member but am looking to possibly be. I wanted to know if a 590 would be suitable enough to run 3 monitors with? Or if I should Tri-SLI it with a 580 or something. I'm looking to get only one card though since it will hurt my wallet even more if I have to add onto my custom loop. Looking at EVGA products. Would the 590 hydro even be worth it? Or would I be better off getting a 590 and putting a water block on it afterwards? Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you.

Most of them are the same. Look for what ever fits your budget and needs. If you care a lot about noise and heat, get something with a different cooler like the msi twin frozr or the palit (dual fan). If you plan to game higher than 1080, then get the 2gb model. If not, then stick w/ the 1gb.

The 590 is ready for three monitors. You'll need at least two 580s to run three screens which is a bit more expensive than a single 590, though you'll want the 3gb versions and the cheapest is over $500 (mine were ~ $570 a piece eek.gif). Though the extra vram on the 580 3gb does go a long way on three screens for the most demanding games. If your budget has a limit, get the 590 since its cheaper to put it on water and its a single card application. As far as watercooling it, imho get an aftermarket block and install it yourself. The EVGA hydro ones use the Swiftech blocks which are a bit more expensive and comparable to the other aftermarket blocks in terms of performance. If you want to keep costs as low as possible, get a gtx 590 and an xspc block for it. Also, DangerDen has a 590 block for a bit more:

Awesome thank you for all the info. So, I'm not really on a budget but if I don't need to spend the money then I won't haha but I want the best.

I asked in the General video card forum if I'd be better off Tri-Firing my 6970 with a 6990, or just getting a single 6990 and using just that.

I know there's a bunch of benches and arguments and all that regarding nVidia and AMD.

What I'm looking for is, it seems that I'd be the best at TriFiring my 6970 with a 6990 rather than just a single 6990. That's just as far as AMD goes.

But I'm obviously looking at switching cus I like to try new stuff hence me posting in this thread. I'm not a fanboy of either so I'm not biased.

Now as far as Nvidia, am I good with a single 590 and that's it? Orrrrr would I be better off with Tri-Sli 590/580? I mean, I'm sure I'd be better off with the latter but from your reply, it seems I'd be just fine with a 590 and a tri-sli would be overkill, correct?

What about a single 3GB 580? I'd need 2 of those bad boys to be good with 3 monitors correct?

Sorry for all the confusion, I hope there isn't any. I'm just trying to figure out the best configurations so I can run this bad boy. smile.gif

Thank you again!

His response was more on the budget side of things. (no offense intended) If you want the best really should get 3gb 580's in sli. Tri-Sli if you really want the extra horsepower, but dual sli 3gb 580's would be what I would buy if I didn't already have 570's. If you don't know the 590 is just two 570's with internal sli so you can run in a single slot.

As far as Nvidia vs. AMD here wermad just switched boats b/c of buggy AMD drivers. I've heard too many complaints about AMD drivers to ever go back. Last AMD card I have was a 1950 pro. eek.gif

Good luck with what ever you choose! wink.gif
