Alright, sorry for the hiatus in updates. I've been working 50+ hours a week and was out of town. Anyways.. I will be doing a lot of updating and some changes, the main one being creating a spreadsheet so multiple people can update the members list. Hopefully I get some volunteers

Otherwise stay tuned for an update.

Just when Microcenter finally drops the price on the Maximus IV Extreme to $330 they sell out of 2600K's.

Maybe it's a sign that it's not such a good upgrade after all.

Might just pick up a Rampage III Extreme then. Slot spacing on the Sabertooth is killing me.

OR

I could just wait for X79 and get the Rampage IV Extreme with the i7 3820, as long as BCLK OC'ing is promising on the non-unlocked quad.

The Asus Sabertooth mobo's are durable really high military grade built board without the extra bells and wistles not needed. I'll agree however the spacing for an SLI config is nill having to be sandwiched. Only major drawback I concur.

How are your GPU temps for top and bottom card under full throttle? How about idle?

I'm not sure yet when Kepler comes out if I'm going to go with a single GTX 680 or get another GTX 580 to SLI after prices drop.

Temps are 42c (top card idle) and like 36c (bottom card idle) and with a 1%/ 1c fan profile I've seen 80c top card and 70c bottom card in The Witcher 2 with Ubersampling.

Temps @ stock clocks and voltages. Top card voltage is 1.013v and the bottom is 1.025v.

LOL! I've been watching their pricing too.

A week or so ago, I did see a R3E on open box clearance for like $240. It was placed on the top shelf of their clearance rack, near their games section, facing the cables wall. I don't know if that kind of money is worth it to you, nor how much of a difference you can make up by selling your Sabertooth.

My $0.02 is for a big change such as a motherboard swap (where you will likely need to do a fresh install of Windows just to avoid issues), might as well upgrade to a newer platform to make it worthwhile.

Exactly. I'm already doing most of the work involved with changing platforms such as swapping boards and reinstalling Windows so why not just take it to the next step.

I think I'll wait for X79.

I'm with you there.

At least by that time, the performance difference should be more prominent.

I know this video will get some other 500 series owners frothing at the mouth. Hydro 2 cards are the bomb.

The new PNY liquid cooled 580's are really awesome. Don't have to worry about heat issues in sandwiched SLI situations. Wish I had the cash.

^^^I think the Swiftech blocks are nice but a bit pricey. They're a bit more expensive than the AC nickel ones (which seemed to perform the best). Most big players in the water cooling section have great blocks and all come within a few degrees if not fractions of one in terms of thermal performance. In the end its all about the name, looks, and what accessories it may/may-not have.

Just got a 3rd 570. Got to love TRI SLI. This is just until the new gpus come out from Nvidia. I will overclock these later and put up some new results here is what I have now.
