Also in order to say Sandy is stable you really need to run IBT AVX Linux pack at max memory min of five passes. Then run prime for 10 hours. Then you can say its stable.
Well so far it passed the 20 runs at Max memory on IBT without AVX.

SP1 just showed up tonight as I was leaving in Windows Update. For some reason it wouldn't rear it's head until now.

I'm really opposed to running Prime95 overnight. :/ I'm not worried about joining the Sandy Stable club I just want it to be game stable.

This rig doesn't fold and never runs anything more strenuous then games, benches and P95/IBT.

I might do the 10 hours of Prime another time though if I have time. Maybe on the weekend.

Please don't take any of this the wrong way, when I re-read what I wrote and it sounds sort of dickish but I don't mean it that way at all.
You could run IBT without AVX all day long and never see an error or temps near what AVX will give you. It's really the only thing that is hard enough to truly see if Sandybridge is stable. I don't worry about the club rules either when OC'ing. But what you don't want to happen is to be gaming along and have your rig crash on you because your chip needed just a little more vCore or something.
Personally I run IBT AVX 5 times max mem. If it passes that I know the temps are good and it's basically stable. If I really want to be solid I'll give it the 10 hours P95. Not usually though, I'm not that patient. I don't mind if things aren't perfect. I would never do this for someone that wouldn't know what to do if something failed with the OC down the road though.
GLHF!

I don't take anything on the internet the wrong way.

It's a forum where the people you talk to you probably will never meet, so I don't sweat it.

I'll get SP1 DL'd tomorrow on my snail internet and prob run 10 runs IBT w/ AVX and run P95 either overnight (blegh) or start it Saturday morning and see how it goes.

I'm just not keen on having to up the voltage any more than where it is currently, temps permitting or not.

I mean what's really the safe vcore limit for these things? I think I'd first scale back my OC before running 1.45v all day. :/

Late reply (busy weekend) but, here it is:

Thanks! It looks a bit tight inside that mid-tower but it actually isn't. After 2 years of upgrading and tweaking the damn thing, that rig is now very silent and surprisingly cool. I guess something like this is the best I can achieve with air cooling.

I know what you mean.
I often thought of going the h2o way as well but, for various reasons I've chosen not to do it with this rig in particular (will do it in the future, but with a different build).
Anyway, it's just a different way to do it and I would bet with you (if that made any sense ) that my humble little machine is as silent, or more so, than any similar water cooled system

Whatever your comfortable with. I mean with the correct cooling I wouldn't worry about running 1.5v 24/7. It would have to be a worth while overclock though. They're actually fairly tough little chips. And what's the worst that a little too much 24/7 is gonna do? Take a year or two off of a ten year lifespan of which you'll own it a max of 2-4 (if you're like me).

I'm only using an H100 so I wouldn't consider it as good as something like a real water loop.

But IBT sans AVX only netted 70c on a few cores so 1.425v isn't that much of a problem for my cooling. I can't see the temps in a game hitting more than 55c.

I'll run AVX tonight and see what happens. As I said I never even dropped the voltage to the failure point so this could be a golden chip, disguised by my laziness and AVX might not even need any more volts.

Who knows. I'll hope for the best.
