I like vsync on and it would lock 60fps pretty good,
Also with the core at 925 with the single card on air (EVGA) max temp was 72c. Something is definitely up with yours.

k i will use an old driver and see how it goes...

I mean you mentioned the new driver. Seems like a lot of problems just from a driver. But idk. I would think that card should perform better. But I have never used a 590. Did it perform better and run cooler at some point? Is it full of dust? Is your case airflow messed up for some reason? Have you considered redoing the tim on the card?

Well then for sure something is wrong. Probably because its overheating. Its probably packed with dust do you blow the card out with compressed air?

560 sli or 6870 xfire will probably give you the most gpu power but you'll be vram limited.

I would get the best single card which imo is the 570. Or get sli 560ti 2gb's. biggrin.gif

Idk man. The 6970 Lightning is a pretty BA card.

I would take that if it came down to it. I had a 570 before going single 580, then later dual and I just didn't feel like the 570 had enough power for the resolution and settings I wanted. And I've heard that you can get insane overclocks with the Lightnings, so that would be my .02.

I still prefer Nvidia drivers to AMD's monkey crap drivers. I had a 6870 and it was the most excruciating experience when it came to finding drivers that actually worked. I've never ran a beta set of drivers until recently with the Nvidia 295.51 drivers and I'm blown away by how much more polished Nvidia's beta offerings in compared with AMD's full fledged WHQL drivers. It's appalling what AMD passes off for drivers these days. Damn shame.

Single monitor? Under 1920x1200 resolution?

All the choices are good really. If you can swing two....either EVGA Classified or MSI TwinFrozrII 560Ti 448's is a great bang for your buck.

Keep in mind lesser powerful GPU's in crossfire like the 6870's are prone to micro-stutter. I know because I left two 6870's for one GTX 580. The 6950's do well in crossfire.

If you had multiple monitors I'd have suggested the GTX 570 2.5GB cards in SLI or the 6970 2GB. VRAM really shows benifits in multiple monitors. As for single monitors VRAM dosent carry its weight.

I wasn't surprised to see the 560Ti 448 1.2GB card beating the 6950 2GB card in all the game and synthetic benches. Ask I'll send you the graphs from multiple tech sites. The stats include games that are heavy VRAM hogs like BF3.

Anyway your list does have good cards and your choices all pretty solid. Whether you go the dual card set up or not is up to you. Guess it depends on you budget. If you do go 448's and get only one thinking to SLI down the road you may want to rethink that as they are limited release cards.

The reason I suggested EVGA Classified and MSI TFII is they come with the 6 +1 power phase PWM's instead of 4 like the other cards. They are very over clockable safely.

Good luck and happy GPU hunting bud. thumb.gif post back and let the club know which way you went.

Edited to add the graphs, now that I have time. tongue.gif

Want to see how they do in SLI - here is a good review from Hardware Heaven that shows benches of the 448 gambit with and SLI chart.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 448 Cores

So you can see for the same price as a 6950 and compare, in some cases on par with each other. Definetly better price / performance than the 6970. The reviews don't show the over clocking ability of the 448's however which is sad because it does very nicely on the EVGA Classified and MSI TwinFrozrIII.
