Idk man. The 6970 Lightning is a pretty BA card.

I would take that if it came down to it. I had a 570 before going single 580, then later dual and I just didn't feel like the 570 had enough power for the resolution and settings I wanted. And I've heard that you can get insane overclocks with the Lightnings, so that would be my .02.

I still prefer Nvidia drivers to AMD's monkey crap drivers. I had a 6870 and it was the most excruciating experience when it came to finding drivers that actually worked. I've never ran a beta set of drivers until recently with the Nvidia 295.51 drivers and I'm blown away by how much more polished Nvidia's beta offerings in compared with AMD's full fledged WHQL drivers. It's appalling what AMD passes off for drivers these days. Damn shame.

Yah I didn't notice the lightning part. But after trying amd again with one 6950 and then crossfire 6950's. I won't recommend amd to someone. I had a lot of issues.

From what I have been reading the 448 cards are pretty sweet. I still vote for two of those biggrin.gif

It helps to open it but if you don't feel comfortable just spray it in all the holes, where the fans are and everything. They should sell it at bestbuy in the computer section.

Office Depot/Staples carries compressed air. Pretty sure Walmart would have it too, now where it would be is another question entirely.

Definetly take off the shroud to clean it. It's not hard at all and you will get it very clean. Dust can actually raise GPU temps when not cleaned and is let to build up.

Here is a video I found that shows you the inside and removal. Simply some screws and won't void warranty one bit. Dust that off with compressed air can and your good to go. thumb.gif

hey just noticed your post, I'm using afterburner and its at the stock voltage, if I push the clocks any further past this, they become unstable with out adjusting voltage.

Not a problem. Like the post below yours its pretty easy to get the shroud off. On my reference 580 you could take the top off to expose the inside of the card but the copper block would stay fixed to the gpu core. Good luck and report back

Still to get 960 is impressive.. that should be in there 560ti performance range. I plan to upgrade PSU and buy another one when Kepler comes out to pair up and see how that does. Should be impressive. Thanks again!
