So I have a GTX580 and 570 in my hands and I'll be damned if the only diff I can find is the 570 has 2 6 pins, it has the solder points for the second 8 pin. Even the nvidia model number is the same on both cards.

Do we know if they removed the extra parts that would make them both 580's with diff BIOS? I assume someone has checked.

I have no plans to remove coolers.

I just looked it up, same board minus some parts. 1st is 570, 2nd is 580

edit, 480 below just so I can compare.

The first GPU is 275, the second is 375.

Is 82-83c too high of a load temperature for the gtx570? This is what I get running BC2 @ 950/1900/2000 @ 1075v

I'm not used to having a card that operates at such high temps, kind of scary.

That's a safe temp imo.

Temps are fine.
The question is have you set up a custom fan profile in Afterburner yet?
I have mine set to ~ 1% to ever 1* C.. Max temp in BC2 is 63* C
post #818 of 5998
Are you running EVGA Percision software auto fan. It already has the set up for fan control adjusted well. If you overclock you will get higher temps obviously.

If you are using or plan on using MSI Afterburner then follow these fan setting in the 'user defined' option.

http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/01.htm

I got my GTX 580 SC running 5% minimal OC and it never gets above 74C with fan running 70% during full throttle playing demanding games, like Crysis full settings.
