2560x1440 GTX 580 not enough Vram - Page 8

Forget the "unlocked" aka warranty voided 6950s and just go with 2 570s. Nvidia has an SLI AA mode which destroys CFX in my opinion.

Edit: And nVidia SLI AA mode works in almost all games, I even use it in swkotor 1

yeah you're right maybe nvidia is the way to go like always lol I just was a bit confused because the gtx570s "only" have 1280megs of vram compared to the 6970s/580s

if it wasn't the case I'd already have gone with 2 570s superclocked without even thinking about it

No, don't pay for the SC version, buy the Vanilla OC and flash the BIOS!

...But yeah SLI AA mode completely destroys any AA advantage 2GB of Vram would give the 6970.

heh the only 570s that are on stock here are the superclocked ones and they only cost 15 bucks more than the vanilla version

I'm practically completely decided about buying the 570s but wouldn't sli AA be also limited due to 570's vram?? I'm so confuseeeeed!!!!

Huh? There is 2 Bios, and a bios switch, on the 6950 for a reason. Think about it for 2 seconds...

If you have a ''problem'', just flash ''unlock'' bios back from second bios. No warranty voided.

if you have 2560x1440 there is no way i would choose 570s over 6970s. the extra ram is needed in few games now, as well as for future proofing. there's threads on that monitor and the 30" actually choking a 580 when things are really bumped up. hardforum is better for high res info.

two 6970s would be better than 570s at 2560xXXXX. 570 is the 1080 king, or was till the 6950 reflash. lol
