I think we all know that the really great "homegroup" option in Win 7 only works when all the computers in the homegroup are using Win 7. I setup a home network with a Win 7 PC and an XP PC and discovered I really needed to do some practice with my file sharing permission skills (in paticular sharing the "program files" folder on the XP machine). There is alot on the net about the "ins and outs" about making a network between Win 7 and XP and file sharing permissions and this allowed me to be sucessfull. My question is, can I do all the lab work I want in this area using virtuial machines? I want to use virtuial machines in case I mess up and I can start over easier. The way I am doing labs now is with two seperate machines, one with Win 7 and one with XP and playing around with the different file sharing techniques, will this way give me the best experience?
