Minecraft Server Startup, RPG vs Sandbox

Thread Starter
While I'm on Epona's server just about non stop, I am very interested in something I do not think Epona's currently offers...access to the mobs.

I'd like to see if anyone knows of...or would have any interest in me starting...a server where it still has all the mobs and such. I'm looking to get a world going where there is the chance of death and losing all of your items when you're halfway across the map.

In essence, I'm looking to take what I have in single player maps, and get that experience with other players online.

Would anyone else have an interest in it, or does anyone else have one currently going?

You should definitely read a lot about minecraft servers before you start building one. There are a lot of little things that go wrong every day with every update including mobs. A lot of people don't know that mobs use a lot of CPU and with the server being java (for now, theres a community creating a C++) it only utilizes one core per applet...

Servers are awesome and the best ones (godcraft) charge a low one time fee (usually $10) to weed out grievers. I know personally that godcraft server has almost NO grieving. It's an awesome community you should check if out.

I much rather play on Eponas god tier server than pay $10 to play on some other guys 'no grief' server.

Also, if I wanted to I could just pay the $10 then and grief. How is a small fee going to stop someone?
