Window 7 Phones 0_o

Hey guys, I've been looking to buy a smartphone. I've had my RAZR for like 3+ years and it's still awesome! I love it because it's so clear and hardly picks up background noise on my end.

My carrier is AT&T and I'm going to go ahead and give this a shot. Here are the smartphone I can choose from:

I notice they have some Windows 7 phones now, are those any good? Which should I go for if not that? Please help, I no nothing about any of this if you haven't figured that out already. lol

I'm not a phone guru by any means but I can give you my experience. I upgraded from a RAZR to a smart phone in August. I went with the iPhone 3GS and I must say I'm very happy overall. You will not believe how much easier it is to text with a smart phone versus the RAZR, you'll likely see your texting quadruple. I'm pleased with the calendar features which are great for my tutoring business, and there's a google map feature that updates your position in real time, it's like having a GPS in your car whenever you need it. And obviously with the iPhone there's a ton of apps. I also like the voicemail versus the RAZR.. no more "calling" your voicemail, you just see a list of who left a voicemail and can play their voicemail instantly, waaay better than the RAZR. I've never had a dropped call with it here in Columbus on AT&T. Battery life is pretty good, lasts me 2-3 days with normal use.

Now the bad. The camera does not have a flash. There is no way to search your email (which makes the email function nearly useless for me, I wanted to be able to find addresses in emails from students). And I'm sure it's lacking some bells and whistles that newer phones have.

Hope this helps! Sorry I don't know anything really about the other phones.

My wife has the Samsung Focus (Windows 7 phone). It's very nice - especially if you're a Facebook or Xbox user. It's super fast and well laid out. A couple of minor downsides is that there are some minor features missing - like copy/paste (coming in the next couple of months) and no custom ringtones. But other than that, it's pretty sweet. Also, the phone hardware is really nice. The microphone has some amazing noise cancellation (my wife called me from the car last night and had she not told me she was on the road, I thought she was sitting in a parking lot).

I have an iPhone 4 and it's ok. Apple has a reputation for "it just works" and my iPhone has proved to me that's definitely not true. It will randomly fail to sync email and often runs slow and laggy. Plus trying to manage the phone using iTunes is ridiculously difficult and non-intuitive. The app store is what the iPhone has going for it.

Android phones are really popular too. I don't have any experience with them other than playing with demo units in stores. They seem pretty nice but the open source nature of them makes updates sporadic. Applications will work on some phones but not others and updates may be for certain phones and not for others. Though a friend of mine has a Galaxy S and loves it.

Definitely go into a store and spend 20-30 minutes playing with one. And don't be afraid to bring it back if you choose one that you don't like.
