GTX 570 overclocking thread - Page 101

Tooling around with Tri-SLI 570's right now. One of the cards is holding me back, two can go to 925 for sure, maybe more but the third only makes it to 875 before it gives up with the 285 beta drivers. Re-downloading all my other benchmarking tools since my RAID array gave up on me

These are at 850mhz core.

HI All

i here because i would like to learn to overclock but 1st i need abit of help.

Long story short, i have a factory overclock gigabyte GTX 570 and im having a problem whereby all games a play in DX11 crash. so iv done alot of reading the solution is to bump up the voltage on the card, but i know NOTHING about anything. i dont want more performance. just to sort the problem out.

Can any1 assist me.
I have MSi Afterburner

Core Clock: 780
Shader: 1560
Memory: 1900
Voltage: 0.988v ( i think )

Thanks

It should be just a vanilla 570. They don't bin their chips so its hit or miss as far as overclocking a bunch.

Just open afterburner, click the settings button and check "unlock voltage control" and voltage monitoring. Then go back to the sliders and move the voltage slide over a litte. You can use the arrow keys to fine-tune it. Hit apply and then save it to a profile just in case. I would try 1.000v and see if its stable then. I have problems with some games at stock clocks and voltage ever since the 28x.xx drivers came out so I bump mine up to 1.000 for stock clock gaming and have no issues.

ok i understand that much... im more worried about the risks and what happens if afterburner isnt running? and i see theres a setting that says "apply overclocking on system startup" must that be selected?

must i push the voltage up 0.001 at a time?

Heres my card if you wanna have alook, i see you guys go wild with OC. im from South Africa, ****s not cheat if i blow it up

Yes, use apply OC at startup. What I do is have profile 1 at dead stock, set to run in 2D. Then profile 2 is a slight bump to voltage to provide for some games that seem to cause crashes, so I set 3D profile to 2. (this is in the settings tab, on the top right there are arrows to get over to profiles). I also made myself a custom fan curve to help keep the cards cool, because the stock fan profile sucks even though its very quiet. +10-15mv is not much for the card and it will help stability if you're having problems. Even going to a full 1.100v probably won't hurt anything, the drivers/bios won't allow voltage that damages the card unless you edit it. However, more voltage = more heat so you want the least you can get away with while being stable.

But, aren't reference cards bad? They have a very high possibility of burning, if I'm not mistaken.

If you overvolt them, yes. The VRM design isn't the greatest but its not bad either, basically just enough for the card and a bit of headroom but not much more than that. Once you edit the cards bios and allow more voltage than normal you're taking your chances with a reference card, but other than that there should be no problems.
