GTX 570 overclocking thread - Page 104

Are people still getting dead 570s due to VRM issues? Specifically when overclocking the memory past ~2200? I've got a Gigabyte gtx 570 SOC, at 970/2200 with 1.088v. This is obviously non reference so it has upgraded pcb. It wont do any more with 1.1v as much as I'd love 1ghz core so this is the max stable with lowest volts I can get, I dont want to push over 1.1v. Memory can go to 2300 but dont want to try if its going to fry it. Temps are fine, dont see over 70 when gaming running 50% fan speed with a side fan as well...

Noticed memory doesn't scale that well, seems every 100mhz is roughly 1fps in heaven benchmark. 2000 gives me ~ 50fps while 2200 gives me ~ 52fps. 2300 should be ~ 53fps.

Thanx Kerrk My VRM covered by black plate and if I touch it from side PCB its really hot and could burn my finger at 1.1v VGPU, but not much at 1.050v... I hope it safe when I do 950/1100 1.1volt for daily usage. Btw +rep for you Kerrk

Wow this is good news hmmm I guess its fine 1.1v for 3D, yup I will try it, btw last night I opened GPU shark and I saw at state clock of 50/135 (idle clock) and 400/sorry forgot for memory it stays at 0.913volt ... so I think I dont need to change 2D/3D profile in afterburner right? Or I need to do like you did in afterburner profile?
Anyway thx for sharing and +rep for you bro

It doesn't matter what you put in afterburner I don't think, they will idle down to 405/810 for 2D and then 50mhz for complete idle, you will only see the 2D AB setting if you're playing an HD video or something of that nature.

Do you guys think 3.7Ghz will be a bottleneck in terms of gaming with an OC'd GTX 570? I've just been a tad lazy on trying to figure out the perfect vcore for a 4.2-4.4OC as I keep getting lock ups etc if I lower the vcore b/c auto-tuning gives a really high vcore.

You will be fine. Even a stock 2500k wouldn't bottleneck a 570 in most games. I have SLI 570s and I am not bottenecked at all with my 2500k 4.5Ghz.

Yes right what Evo X said Now I use 4ghz for my 2500k because I have to sell NH-D14 to get 22inch 1080p HDMI LCD TV LG hehe works fine with GTX570 at 900mhz or even 950mhz. If I get better cooler again then I will boost to 4.6ghz or 4.8ghz daily just like old times ^_^

I've been running my card at 850/1900 1.05 volts folding stable for about a week now. Got the BF3 beta and I was playing it for about an hour just there. A couple of times when I came out of the game the card was back at 730/1900. I think it may be really punishing on the card and it's just hard to get stable.

What drivers were you using prior to the BF3 beta drivers? Newer drivers have changed something with voltage causing instability on max overclocked systems. Basically, the same voltage amount will not be sufficient to run max clocks anymore.. you'll either have to up the voltage or lower the clocks.

It's odd that the driver crash didn't kick you out of the game, but I've had that happen in 3dMark 11 when the crash occurred in between loading the scenes.

I'm interested in the max memory speed as well. I've had mine between 2150mhz and 2250mhz for a while and haven't had any problems. But I've noticed that with SLI now, I'm increasing the goodies like AA and AF so my 1.28Gb of VRAM is starting to make me nervous when I think about some of newer games that are out or coming out soon. So, this memory speed of mine is going to have to be running at its highest. Has anyone heard anything?
