GTX 570 overclocking thread - Page 108

Yea that VRM cooling isn't great but it ought to be sufficient. Just because it's too hot for your hand doesn't mean it's too hot for the components. I am still correct about the power phase or VRMs being a little lacking or weak on that card so I would still err on the side of caution, but it has been quite a while since there have been any reports of mass VRM failures so you ought to be okay at 1.1v. Here is the thread I'm referring to when I say that there used to be a whole lot of those VRM failures, but they seem to be mostly behind us.

Yup I already read that thread before started overclocking this card, abit scared while read that thread ... especially there was a user that already put heatsink on mosfet VRM but still get burnt his mosfet, maybe its to small heatsink? or he overvolt VGPU up to 1.2volt?? I hope my card fine and I will report if there's something wrong with my card. Thx for info, Juano. Add rep for you

Our card are the same only my card has abit higher stock clock which is 750/1000 and our pcb layout are the same also use same cooling and heatsink for GPU and other components (memory, mosfet(VRM) etc). I think your card should hit 900mhz easily but maybe its because you got "not good chip"???

You can sell it then buy another one but I suggest you buy TFIII not TFII at least you should get 900mhz with normal chip..

Nothing really....just feel like this card can do more than what it is. Strangely tho...ok when I first got it I tried to OC it up to 900 w/ max voltages. OCCT said it had alot of errors and I couldn't play anything, now tho (I've had this card about 6 months since I first built my rig, things that have changed are my mobo bios being upgraded and drivers being upgraded) I am able to pass OCCT just fine at 900 mhz. I know its nothing sure or anything cuz its a stress program as well as the whole limiter thing w/ the 5xx series. I just...am confused lol. Will update after I play some games....prolly just gettin my hopes up lol.

Yea you nailed it with the last part of your post, the "limiter thing". Don't put any weight in OCCT, Furmark, or the like, I prefer Unigine Heaven for a quick and more accurate stability test. Or if you really want the most stressful thing I've ever run on these cards and it will run just fine with OCP (that limiter thingy) then look into folding. More information can be found in my signature and I could help you set up some WUs that would be the most stressful thing you ever will run on your card, you can stability test your card while doing some beneficial research at the same time.
