I didn't ever see the VDDC reach my set vcore during those benchmarks, or go very close to it either.

I haven't used Kombuster, but you can check by logging the power consumption with GPU-Z:

Once GPU-Z is open, click Sensors.

Disable logging on everything but VDDC Power(click on the name of the sensor).

Check Log to file(save it where you want) and Continue refreshing...

Now run the program you want to test.

IRC, my GTX570 doesn't show the same VDDC in GPU-Z as what i set it to in Afterburner.

I will try the above myself and edit this post with the results. (Results in spoiler below)

GPU-Z wasn't showing the correct wattage, but my Kill-A-Watt meter confirmed the above results.

When you do get a second monitor, follow this guide. Make sure to bookmark it for now.

I've only ever used 3DMark 11 and Vantage for benching and i only use them to verify gains in my OC's. But i would only really consider myself familiar with 3DMark11.

I'm actually thinking that I have either a faulty motherboard (probably not) or a faulty hard drive disk (more likely). My motherboard is a Gigabyte X58A-UD3R (rev2) and the HDD is a Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB (WD1002FAEX), I've owned everything in this computer besides the GPU for at least 2 years and I've been having problems for almost as long.

I just recently tested the speed of my HDD and the graph showed what I can only describe as stuttering, I checked the results other people had and my average speeds were close, but their drives were far more steady than mine. As with the GPU, I can actually notice the stuttering. The computer freezes often, every time I wake it from sleep mode (changing power settings didn't fix it), freezes and slow downs during file transfers and installers, freezes when opening some programs (mostly with Firefox), exceptionally long loading times in some games. Every component in my system is supposed to be fast, but there's a serious bottleneck somewhere, which I suspect to be my HDD. My other computer, which is far less powerful than this one, hasn't had any of these problems and has performed exactly as intended since I bought it. In fact, when I moved my Radeon HD 5850 from this i7 to the AMD (less powerful computer) the 5850 actually performed better than it did in the i7.

To make it even worse, for more than a year I have had various programs and drivers suddenly become corrupt and stop working properly. I've been able to fix them with reinstalls and a few other tricks. The only bad install I've been stuck with is Windows 7 its self. When service pack 1 was released I found out that my OS was corrupt, it refused to install due to some error with WIndows files, I tried all kinds of solutions but eventually determined that the only way to fix it would be to reinstall or repair Windows with the disk. I haven't fixed it since I was already planning to build a new computer with Ivy Bridge and just didn't want to deal with it.

I feel pretty stupid for not piecing this together until now, but all these problems seem to be related.
I apologize for veering off the topic of the thread, if there's somewhere else you think I should post this info let me know.

Unfortunately I don't have another hard drive around that I could use to test this, so this all is just speculation. I don't need to fix this since I'm swapping out everything but my GPU, PSU, and case as soon as IB is released, but it would sure be great if I could solve this.

I don't know how to help you with this. But you can try Copy/Pasting the above into a new thread(not sure what sectionthinking.gif).

Alright, I'll do some messing around with GPU-Z and the dual monitor stuff.

Thanks again for taking the time to help, I really appreciate it! (Rep+)
I'll post here again with the results if/when I get this mess fixed.

Some questions about non-reference boards:

1) Is it safe to run it on 1.1V 24/7?

2) Is it safe(and usefull) to overclock VRAM over 2100MHz for 24/7 use?

3) Regarding over clocking the cores, I should increase it to the point the drivers stop responding and use 5-10Mhz below that point at 1.1V ?

I have to agree with this. My 570 is one of the ones in the "recent dead" thread. I have not tried Unigine yet and look forward to trying it, but - and I've said this in an earlier post here - I have found the 3DMark 11 Extreme benchmark run to be the most reliable stress test for checking stability. I have set an overclock, run OCCT and EVGA Precision, MSi Kombuster, etc., for 20-30 minutes and it will run along happily, giving no idication of instability. Then I will run an Extreme benchmark test on the same OC settings, and the benchmark test will crash within seconds. I have my theories as to why this is, but in short, I have found that a benchmark run w/ 3DMark 11 to be the most reliable test for stability.

I get 850/2100 at 1.063V. However when I try to go higher the voltage requirements rise exponentially. At 880/2100 I need the full 1.1V to run Crysis 2 (DX 11, ultra settings with hi-res textures) stable for extended gaming sessions. The thing is my MSI GTX 570 Twin Frozr II was not even stable out of the box when I bought it and it would always crash during Just Cause 2 until I figured out that I need to adjust the voltage a bit for their factory overclock.

What was the factory voltage and what did you need to run it? Just for my information pretty much

I will say though if the card didnt run the factory settings, you should be able to rma the card no problem. When they sell a card with a factory oc they guarentee it will run that out of the box pretty much. Anything above that isnt a promise though.

Your voltages seem like mine at those settings, 880mhz at 1088mv on bf3 but I keep it at 1100mv, I can do 890mhz at 1100mv but 900mhz at 1100mv will crash about 30mins into a game.

I had same exact issue with my kfa2 570, would crash at stock, upping volts fixed the issue but........
When you come to sell your card you will be selling a faulty card that does'nt do stock clocks....

I returned mine and got a new card that did'nt have the issue wink.gif
