GTX 570 overclocking thread - Page 161

875 / 2000 @ 1.063v

couldn't get 900 OCCT stable at 1.088 and i don't want to hit 1.1v. 875 @ 1.063 is more than reasonable, i think. =) i'm also under water, so temps are a non issue.

i'd say i'm pleased. first time OCing a GPU.

thanks for all the insights provided here!

Just did a quick little test, I ran the benchmark in Dirt 3, ultra settings, 8xQCSAA, v-sync off, to see what yields a better fps improvement: 875/2075 in Afterburner, or 850/2100. I had been running 850/2100 @ 1.063V for the longest time, so I figured it would be time to tweak a little. I'm not quite sure yet if 875/2075 is stable at the same voltage, but I was surprised to see a significant improvement in fps: 65.27 fps average / 55.69 fps min @ 850/2100 compared to 67.18 fps average / 56.94 fps min @ 875/2075.
I could do a few more runs to average out the results, but it seems pretty clear to me. The thing I am wondering about is whether some games out there benefit from a higher memory clock as opposed to a higher core/shader clock...

From what I know the core is what has more potential to give more FPS, while memory doesn't do too much at all..

Hmmm, struggling to understand why my rig is getting a Heaven score of only 904-1011

Benchmark settings

API - Dx11
Stereo 3D - Off
Shaders - High
Tessellation - Extreme
Anisotropy - 4x
Anti-Aliasing - Off
Full screen - Yes
Resolution - 1920x1080

Rig

Windows 7 64bit
i5 2500k @4ghz
GTX 570 OC'd @ 850/2100. Vcore 1.063
Sabertooth P67
8gig Corsair vengeance.

frown.gif Just not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Scratch that. I was getting that score with tessellation on normal. Putting it on extreme bagged me a score of 854 frown.gif

what's wrong with that? what should you be getting? these scores change depending on how demanding someone is running the program.

i get just under 700 with everything on max, stereo 3D off, 1080p. that seems good to me.

Messing around with my card to see what it could do. I haven't gone and lowered the voltage yet, however this is what I've started with. Put it to 1.1 then put it at 950/1900/2000 and ran Heaven Bench. Is that the best way beside OCCT for checking for stability? I also played BF3 @ ultra settings 1920x1080 for about 30mins without an issues, nor past 70c. I've never really OC'd a GPU before, which is why I went with the Gigabyte SOC edition (out of box @ 845/1690/1900 running @ .95v) so I'm all for any constructive criticism that anyone has in regards to my overclock settings.

I still haven't been able to find out why Heaven Bench shows that I'm using my cpu's graphics, but that's definitely not the case. Also, CPU is idling at time of SS, however it's OC'd to 4.0.

338

Edit #1:
Weird. Got it to 1000/2000/2000 @1.1v and did another Heaven, but actually got lower results. 338

Edit #2:
sorry for the constant updates, but I've been toying around with it for a while. I put it back to default settings for my card (845/1690/1900 @ .95v) and scored a little higher than when I put it to 1k/2k/2k @1.1v

The lower scores are from the card throttling itself due to being pushed too far I believe.

I just picked up my ASUS GTX 570 Direct CU II. I can't understand why ASUS would design such an awesome board and cooler and only factory overclock 10 over stock. Anyway, I'll play catch up and read up on this thread. Anyone have any advice before I get started? I tried MSI AB to overclock but I couldn't adjust voltage so I used Nvidia Inspector. So far these are my results:
