spent like 7-8 in total to read about OCing the GTX 570 so now i assuming i "know" what's it like to OC the card.
I have the gigabyte GTX570 SOC and i OC'ed like below, temp = ~70 fully loaded.
It survived the benchmark but when i do stress test (using furmark or let Unigine Heaven keep on running) then my screen just turn into at white ( for Unigine) or brown (for Furmark) so i guess the card failed the stress test.
Everytime it turns into those white/brown screen i couldnt do anything but restart the computer.
Tbh i dont know my max core and the voltage atm, i've just been copying you guys in the thread but seems like my card wouldnt be able to handle it.
so what should i do now ? decrease the voltage (as the image above) or the core clock ?
Thank you in advance.

Hi iDena,
Like people, each card acts differently, so your card may or may not like the core clock and the voltage. If you want to get your card stable, you should not decrease voltage, but take the core down to 900 for starters. 900 @ 1.1v is pretty common from what I've seen in the thread.
But just keep trying. That's all there is to it, watch the temperatures when and if you decide to take it higher.

Last thing: I noticed you are using the 296 driver, I haven't read up on it much, but I had some artifacting when playing Crysis 2, even on stock clocks. So if you keep getting those white / brown screens, try rolling the driver back to 295. I'm really happy with that driver at least. Good luck with it wink.gif

Hey,
I just got home lol
So now i'm doing what you said, volt = 1.1v and its at 900/1800 with stock memory clock.

1- Do i need to adjust the memory clock as well ?
2- How long do i need to test to know if its stable ? ( using furmark or kombustor dx11) or just run a benmark from unigine heaven or 3Dmark dx11?
3- how much should i move up at a time? 10-15MHz ?

EDIT: i think i found my max core clock, its 920/1840/950 memory clock @ 1.1v

result running Unigine Heaven @ 1600x1050 Tes: Normal. AA:Off AF: x4

01:43:59 Time: 259.448
01:43:59 Frames: 19204
01:43:59 FPS: 74.0187
01:43:59 Min FPS: 38.3617
01:43:59 Max FPS: 178.874
01:43:59 Scores: 1864.53

1600x1050 is my screen atm, gonna change to the 1080p soon tongue.gif

with 3DMark dx11:

375

Stress tested with Kombustor = 10min, no error.

Hmmm

Kinda lil bit disappointed but also happy because finally i found a stable state of my card after all that effort lol.

Any suggestion ?

1: From my experience, the gains you get from upping the memory is very small (I gained 40 points in 3D11 at 2300 mem clock)
2: This is always up for discussion since the interpretation of stable varies - a lot. Personally, I dislike furmark since it pushes the card to unrealistic extends where air cooling becomes inadequate. Kombuster is a bit more toned down, so if you want to use that I'd say 30-60 minutes. If you use Heaven, 30 loops is a good pointer to being stable. To use 3D11 for stability testing you'd need the professional version for looping.
Heaven benchmark is the closest you will get to a realistic 3d environment like you have in a game.
3: I used increments of 10 when I catalogued my card ( I ran a 3D11 test for every 10 mhz up to 950 core clock). If you're nearing the end of your cards capabilities, I suggest 10mHz at a time, you can use increments of 20mHz when going from 732-870'ish (as said before; this varies).

I don't see why you're disappointed to be honest. 920 is a good overclock if you're still stable in games like Crysis 2, Metro 2033 and BF3. As you've probably experienced in your benchmark tests, the real difference is from your stock setting up to the higher clock speeds (850-950), any higher will only net you gains in benchmarking environments, since they are tailored for optimal usage of the gpu.

If you have a devilish desire for going higher, you can pump up your voltage, but I'd be cautious when going above 1.1v - but that's just me thumb.gif

A final note: Even though my card would do 950 on core in heaven and 3D11, I got artifacts in bf3 and crysis. So take your card for a gaming session as well.

Mine's 84.3% ==> 846Mhz @ 1025 mV (for folding so didn't want to up it too much to keep the power consumption reasonable , haven't really looked for it's max).

I checked it out and GPU-Z .5.9 says 90.8%

Starting with 295.73 they changed something and my heaven scores went way up. Dirt 3 went down 2-3fps though but whateva! lol I kinda think the 295.73 played bf3 smoother than the 296.10 I just tried yesterday but it could have been the server i played on. I didnt record frapps with the new drivers yet.

I just downloaded the 296.1 drivers, since I was having issues with 295.73 crashing all the time, no matter what my OC settings were. This is what I got in Heaven 3.0. Definitely a nice difference from before!

EVGA 570 with 2.5GB Ram: 850/1700/2100 @1.063

I had it at 1.038v but I didn't know if it was stable, i exported 30min HD videos fine but when I tested OCCT it would end because it reached it's maximum temperature which I had at over 93c i know complete max is 97

Then I tested for 5min after fix fan settings to auto adjust with EVGA Precision apparently has it kick up the fan better or FASTER than the card does on default but at 6min it had errors at 1.038v so I kicked it to 1.063

Now should I test in OCCT for one hour to make sure?
What settings should I used?

for example
I think the default is 1 hour, 5min idle at end (is that extra checking because errors can happen when the gpu goes in cooling down mode?)338
