Idel temp 29'c max load playing bf3 72'c, I'll try 800 core clock but should leave shader and mem alone?

Hey I made a nice little chart on overclocking on my thread here---> GTX 570 Closed loop mod
Just go to the very bottom of the tutorial and there is a click to show "Extra Touches" with graphs showing voltage vs core speed and temperature.
There is also some performance comparison between single GTX 570 and SLI

That is an extremely well-written tutorial SDH500! It actually peaked my interest in tinkering with my own cards a little, so props to you mate! Due to the monetary standing I am in, I probably won't take the slightest risk with an item that set me back as much as my 570 biggrin.gif Tech prices are crazy in mah ****ry!

Thanks Agoriaz, and I definitely understand. I am a student so buying a 570 means no eating out for a few months. If you ever decide to do it though it drops temps a lot but makes your pc much quieter too.

On another thought how much of an effect does a mother board have on overclocking a gpu?

I'm not entirely sure actually, I did a bit of googling and came upon a post on extremeoverclocking where the poster - Dil-Tech - noticed that when he upgraded his motherboard, the voltage the GPU received from the PCI-E slot was greatly increased in quality (if that's a thing).
Quote:
The moral of the story? Buying a budget board doesn't just hold back your cpu overclock (which for gaming, a few hundred mhz doesn't make a difference), it can drastically hold back your gpu overclocking. A small voltage increase brought me higher than the maximum allowed brought me to with my previous system. Even with a high-end power-supply (the Antec 850 TPQ is one of the highest rating psu's ever) the pci-e slot power structure means more than you would think, your cables can't make up for that, it needs to pull it's fair share from the slot.
Long story short; a better motherboard allowed him to overclock his GPU.

I'm running my Gainward GTX 570 Goes Like Hell Edition at

Volt 1075mv
Core 900mhz
Mem 2100mhz

pretty much left the fan speed relatively to stock speeds as the GLH cooler is pretty awesome.
hasnt ever reached 70 degrees since benching Metro 2033 on max

I Have an Evga gtx 570 Classified. Used to run it 850 core (memory at Classy ref.) with the reference cooler.
After installing the Accelero Twin Turbo II, I have the following clocks:
Core: 900 mhz , Shader 1800mhz, Memory 2150 mhz. Voltage maxed at 1.113V.
Furmark stable, max temps about 83 C. During gaming around 70 C.
Also ASIC quality is 69,5%.

Well if AMD comes out with a something better than my 1100t thats not AM3+ ill have to go get a new mobo. I have never seen any advertising for improved power supply on a motherboard but I know some boards have a dedicated power input for the graphics cards, I'll have to look those up.
